It's a cavitation problem in the crank, so they need regular replacement. Oil analysis will show anything loose, but it won't show a chunk of bearing material that's fatigued and about to let go.
Change them every 100,000km.
I believe I read it here on Mud somewhere, that the hybrid drivetrains are either optimized for economy or performance. Examples of the Prius and the LC250 are the bookends for this idea and all other models dropped in somewhere in between...
Here is how I think of it. It’s not a hybrid, at least how you are thinking of it. It’s a gas engine with an electric motor for some extra torque and HP. Helps with responsiveness, etc. But its not a hybrid, like a Prius or something.
Thanks for a reply to my original question. That's a great point.
I do have a couple of friends with 250's that work them pretty hard off road, and they love em. These are guys that have had trucks from 40 series on up.
I'm not worried about...
Ignore the 200 trolls. The 250/550 is awesome.
Lift your truck. Only a dealer who's been living under a rock would be thrown by a lift. Around here half of all vehicles from Subarus to F350s get lifted five minutes after driving off the lot...
Oh, man. Knowing (and seeing) this now, if I were you, I would not even hint at moving her from a 200 to a GX. Unless, of course, you are looking for BIG trouble. LOL.
I did. The 6th gen 4Runner is great, and the new hybrid iForce Max engine addressed my complaints about the 5th gen. My biggest issue with the 6th gen 4Runner, though, has nothing to do with performance... I thought the 5th gen 4Runner was one of...
Thank you.
It seems like a nice truck. Our 200 has been great. When I jumped from an 80 to a 100, then to a 200, each series had improvement in manners and performance in stock or mildly modded form for all around everyday use. I expect the...
I bet you (wife) would enjoy the GX. I’m sure there are a lot of mods you can mess with (drawers, phone mounts, roof racks, etc) that have nothing to do with the basic vehicle regarding warranty. After a year or 2 when you’ve got confidence it...
That's a good point about the non HE 200 series being a better buy. My 2013 is modded and I like it that way, and other than a couple of small things that would get tossed anyway doing mods to it, the difference is nil. I do love that cool box...
Have you driven a 550 yet compared to a 600? The 600 is a much better all around driving experience, even though they’re both on the TNGA platform. I was surprised to see how much of a difference there was when you drive them back to back. It’s...
Thank you.
A 2020 or 2021 HE is on my radar for sure.
I agree they are the U.S. pinnacle for the Land Cruiser.
That said, everyone is down on the 250 being a "prado", but with TNGA, I feel the Prado argument is a bit moot because so many trucks...
The magnuson warranty act gives you some protection where the warranty provider would need to prove that your mod impacted the broken part in question; however, push comes to shove. You would need a lawyer to likely argue that on your behalf and...
Hello all,
I am seriously considering moving to a new GX550 Overtrail to replace my 2013 200 series. I'm still not 100% there because the 200 is so good, but the reality is it has 213,000 (trouble free) miles and it is my wife's daily and our...
So far:
arb mt64 shocks
Trail hunter upper arms from the 4runner
Made billet rear lower control arms that use 200 series bushings
Toyo at3 275-70r18 E load tires
Lexus air compressor, yours should come with it
Wrapped it
I have scanned the...
Our 2025 GX Overtrail is on a boat headed over as we speak. I wanted Incognito, but the wife wanted her to go to Pearl White; in the end, she won out, lol. Excited to have one in the garage here in the next 4-7 weeks and I am glad that we waited...
