Jeep SR-4 Tranny to Dana 18 Transfer Case

I don't believe a Spicer 18 fits on anything but T series transmissions without an adapter. Novak Adapters and Advance Adapters make pieces to mate the 18 on SM 420's and 465's, NP 435's, and common GM 3 speed autos. I have seen lots of flat fenders with SM420's and happy drivers.

Where to start and how much 4Runner

First Gen 4Runners rule. I prefer the 22RE over the 3VZE. I have owned both and the 22RE is cheaper and easier to work on. Of course the '85 is a unicorn and priced accordingly, but if you hunt, I bought mine, running and driving, for $1000. It did need work, but they all do. Previous owner...

    Transmission/T-case questions

Project #1- 1984 X-tra cab on 1986 4Runner frame. For this project my brother wants to build an adapter to mate an RF1A low range box to an HF2A transfer case. I would have thought this adapter already existed. I had considered using an R151 transmission because some were mated to 22RE's and...

94 XCab Driveshaft Center Mount Ripped

Sounds like a perfect excuse for dual t-case. Shorter rear, longer front. On a serious note, I fixed a similar problem on a friend's truck by cutting a donor truck, worked fine. My local driveline shop would probably charge me about $150-$180 to make the one piece shaft if I brought him the...

    Transmission/T-case questions

I don't currently have a 70. Last one I had was a rust bucket from Canada. Sold it to a guy who just wanted the 3B. Right now am exploring options to mount FJ80 axles in a Hilux. I have FZJ80 axles and t-cases from petrol/automatic trucks because that's all we got in the US. We got robbed. I...

    Transmission/T-case questions

Thanks for the help. I searched exploroz and found a thread about swapping R151's for H151's in HZJ105's. Evidently the non-turbo trucks came with R's. From what I gather, the H has a bigger output. Now I need to find out if its the same as the one off of my big automatic. Thanks again for the help.

    Weep hole on water pump?

    Fresh Meat!

I have 1 out of 3 that is a leak free and it takes a lot of work to keep it that way if you actually use the truck.

    Odd coolant Question

The next question would be where under the truck? It could be the lines to the rear heater. It could also be the pain in the butt hose under the back of the intake. Both are hard to see.

    Transmission/T-case questions

I have only handled a couple of Canadian 70's so I don't much about them. I am planning to run FZJ80 axles in various trucks and intend to use HF2AV transfer case. I was told by another American, again not so familiar with 70's, that some 70's came with a HF2AV coupled to an R150 or R151...

Same tires different tread depth will it hurt my 80

2/32 is no worse than a pound or two of air pressure. how many people measure their air pressure that closely. It shouldn't make any difference.

    Whats acgood price?

Sweet truck. Cool bumpers, especially the rear. It looks like it bolts on over the crossmember instead of cutting it off.

    '91 transfer shift lever removal

If you think it's the shifter that's binding it probably is. I think it's easier to just go in from the top because it is right on top of the transmission. Not much room from anywhere else.

    Engine wiring harness question

Swapping the harness is pretty straight forward as not much changed other than harness plugs and body panels. I have done it, a while ago, but I don't recall any real headaches. By switching to the newer harness, it will be easier to hook up your diagnostic tool, as the 85's have a bastard plug...

Talk me down from the ledge...

Hard to say if it's really dangerous without driving it, but I'd say put the boy in it. It'll build character. Most of us drove something far worse at that age.
