I have only handled a couple of Canadian 70's so I don't much about them. I am planning to run FZJ80 axles in various trucks and intend to use HF2AV transfer case. I was told by another American, again not so familiar with 70's, that some 70's came with a HF2AV coupled to an R150 or R151 transmission. Is this true and are they plentiful?

The HF2AV is from a full time 4WD (80 series).. The 70 series is a Part time 4WD.
The V in the number means viscous coupling for the center diff in the case.

I don't believe there are any full time 4wd 70 series from the factory...At least not the early models.
A quick google search popped up this. "HZJ105 came with R151 and HF2AV t-case"

Which model 70 series do you have right now or are planning to work/mess around with?
As kbushnz said, most of the 70 series trucks you will see from Canada will probably have a manual box with part time 4wd as they will be older trucks. The Prado (light duty) Landcruisers are the 70 series that had those gearboxes in them.
The R150 is a 2WD transmission, the R150F is 4WD that you had on the Prado Landcruisers and 4Runners with the 2LT or 1KZ engine. The R151F came on the turbo Hiluxes along with the Prado. The two trannys have slightly different rear ratios for 1st and 2nd gear. Transfer case should be a selectable part time transfer case.

Thanks for the help. I searched exploroz and found a thread about swapping R151's for H151's in HZJ105's. Evidently the non-turbo trucks came with R's. From what I gather, the H has a bigger output. Now I need to find out if its the same as the one off of my big automatic. Thanks again for the help.

I don't currently have a 70. Last one I had was a rust bucket from Canada. Sold it to a guy who just wanted the 3B. Right now am exploring options to mount FJ80 axles in a Hilux. I have FZJ80 axles and t-cases from petrol/automatic trucks because that's all we got in the US. We got robbed. I have 3 FZJ80's that I enjoy and wanted the same parts on my other trucks.
What are you putting the axles on?
The full float axles are very similar across the models, the hub, spring/control arm attach points, and drum versus disc are going to be the big differences across the generations of LCs. I had a BJ-70 FF drum rear axle on my 40 series that I modified to put the 80 series e-locker on. I had the spring perches hut and re-welded to work with the 40 series suspension. You can get flanges drilled to fit whatever drive shaft you want if you are putting the LC axes under another truck.

Project #1- 1984 X-tra cab on 1986 4Runner frame. For this project my brother wants to build an adapter to mate an RF1A low range box to an HF2A transfer case. I would have thought this adapter already existed. I had considered using an R151 transmission because some were mated to 22RE's and HF2AV's, though not in the same truck, as far as I know.
Project#2- 2001 Jeep TJ 4.0L/AX15 bellhousing/H151/HF2AV/FZJ80 axles. The R151 and AX15 share the same bellhousing on a 4.0L jeep engine. I am told on exploroz.com the R151 and H151 mate to the same bellhousing. The H151 is a common swap into FZJ80's with HF2AV's, the output/input's should mate if the proper year models are used. With the proper clutch and pilot bearing, this combination should be possible. The only part I am missing is the H151. Normally I would have sourced this from Marv Spectre but sadly this is no longer possible.
The prospect of building Project #2 frequently agitates toyota purists.
