Just wanted to know how much weaker are the 80's era toyota truck axles compared to the fj40's. I know about the gear ratio difference and all that, but just wanted to know if they are bullet proof like the fj40. I have an idea brewing, or maybe I just farted! Let me have it...............

2 wheel drive TH350 with 6 inch output shaft (or tail housing) is your best bet, because you won't have to change the output shaft......and you do not want to take that job on or call for a quote for someone else to do it. You will be very, very sad :'(

Screw that, go to a junk yard and pick up the mastercylinder, powerbooster and all the goodies that go with it off a newer toyota truck(I think anything in the '90s will work) All of this will cost you about $30 and will bolt right on without any modification at all. Sweet, easy, and cheap newer...
