Crank pulley rubbing Oil Pump timing tab - help!

Hello! Just a follow up to this...the issue was the crank pulley. I purchased a new pulley and compared the two - the old pulley was about 1/4 inch closer to the oil pump. The pulley has about 270,000 miles on it...I think I must have messed it up when using the tie downs to hold the pulley...

Crank pulley rubbing Oil Pump timing tab - help!

Hello! There was no spacer when I pulled everything apart. I did replace the bottom chain sprocket with one from engnblder though and thought of that very same thing this morning....do you think that might be it? Can I use the old one down there again with a new chain? I used the engnblder...

Crank pulley rubbing Oil Pump timing tab - help!

Hello, I replaced the timing chain on my 85 Pickup 4x4 (22R), and after I put everything back together and started it, the crank pulley is now rubbing the timing mark tab on one side. It almost seems like the oil pump is on crooked....but I loosened the pump bolts and there is no play in it...

22R Head gasket - bad fit?

I'm replacing the head gasket on my '88 Toyota pickup 4x2, and I decided to go with a Felpro gasket set as I read many positive reviews for that kit. When installing the head gasket, I noticed that after I lined up the gasket with the doles on the block, there was a slight bend in the gasket -...

    NAPA U-joints

I had that same problem and the people at the counter looked at me like I was stupid. I ended up taking the fittings off of my original ones and putting them on the NAPA u-joints before installing them.

    I feel like an ass!!!

Try this: I think I may know what the problem is! This exact thing happened to my brother's '94 LC after he washed the engine. First, of course, check to make sure there is no water around the spark plugs. (that wasn't it for me though) It's been awhile since I looked at his engine, but I...

    Aluminum or steel?

Warning: Stupid question! I rotated my dad's tires on his 1996 LC, and his book had two torque values for the lugs: aluminum and steel (I think) wheels. The aluminum was 76 ftlbs (which seems really low) and the steel called for 108 ftlbs. How can I tell if they are steel or...

Radiator ques - after much searching

Hello all, Well, after an exhaustive search and lots of reading, I still have a few more questions about the radiator in a 96 LC. Here's the story: When I flushed my dad's rad out a year ago, he had a bunch of "flakes" sticking out of the top of some of the rows of his rad....I assumed...

    Syn ATF question

Hello, I wanted to find out some of your thoughts on Mobil 1 ATF. Many of you use it and recommend it to others...my question: Will using a syn ATF cause some leaks on a higher mileage trans? On the website for Mobil 1, they claim that the use of a syn motor oil DOES NOT cause leaks, but in...
