You are a lifesaver! I just tried this and it worked! My antenna now auto-retracts/extends and the manual controls work as well! Thank you so much!!! I was FINALLY able to take it through the car wash without fear of breaking the antenna!!! WOOHOO!!!
Mystery solved. If you're bypassing the amp with a Metra Harness. Pull out the antenna power and connect it to the old OEM head unit harness as below (R2).
I happened to have my old Metra 70-8112 and wired just the antenna power into it, rest...
So it looks like you lose the wiring to the Antenna ECU when you bypass the amp. Screen shot of LX450 wiring diagram shows wiring to Antenna ECU from original headunit harness. That explains why it no longer powers up with head unit but not why...
Interesting…I hadn’t heard that. I can’t imagine there’s anything magic about the amp that makes the auto function work as the “blue” wire was hooked up before.
I plan to look over wiring diagrams tonight and see if it’s blue to purple on the...
I have always read not to use this wire as it will affect antenna going up. I put in aftermarket radio into three different cruisers bypassing the amp, I have never connected that wire, believe it is blue. All three trucks the power antenna...
Dad backed into a flatbed and creased his upper/lower rear hatches beyond repair. His is a 2007 and needs a replacement set which supports the newer style spoiler. Let me know what you have! Thanks!
So the reason for the low oil pressure reading was the Royal Purple that was in there before. After I put in T5, the pressure gauge showed "normal" readings. It's been fine ever since.
The stumble is also gone :) I dunno what happened there but...
The seep is almost certainly the valve cover. If the head gasket was leaking you'd know it. I don't know any shops near you but in SF I have a VERY reputable shop. It's called Toy Shop. He's the best mechanic in San Francisco IMO. Long wait list...
@CruisD64 thanks for asking the questions. Have a new 80 series myself - shes pretty stock and a little beat up but I can't complain about the price. Looking to do my first baseline on her and this thread is helpful. 183k miles. Thinking I might...
Hey! Welcome to the club! The decision to run T5 was a good one. Engine runs like a top and any previous oddities are no longer apparent. I have about 1k miles on it since changing the oil and there is no loss and it's still golden colored. The...
Power came back on so I immediately jumped in the car and drove up. Cruiser fired up right away. Moisture.
Thanks for the help everyone!. Never leaving it here again. Need to deal with the musty smell and deep clean the s*** out of it.
After watching a ton of videos I'm nearly conviced it has to do with the distro/coil not working due to moisture. I watched this video and the symptoms are identical to what I had, including the puttering at the end. Granted my distro cap doesn't...
Hmm. The FPR on my cruiser is only a few years old. Not ruling it out, but on Saturday it would fire up immediately after the engine was hot. Wouldn't a faulty FPR have the opposite results of what I'm experiencing?
Hey folks, a bit on an odd situation. Long one here. My cruiser has been sitting in Sonoma county under a car cover for about 6 months unused (I know, horrible, but I have had nowhere closeby to keep it.) Anyways, yesterday after cranking it for...
