Hey team,
This has got me a bit boxed.
Removed alternator yesterday (and battery for access) to test fit a high output unit.
Didn't fit and needs some dimensional tweaks so put old alt back in this afternoon, reinstalled battery and engine...
They're about $2 each from the dealer. Can't see the logic in looking elsewhere.
Bolt: 90105-11013
Nut: 90179-11005
Washer: 90201-11013
A full set of 4 will set you back $22.
Double Crossover. I’ve seen that on a Chevy K5 Blazer that got converted into a stout and very reliable hardcore rock crawler that can also go fast. The truck’s nickname is ‘Wally’, from Offrad Design in Colorado. That truck rode on 42s, and IIRC...
Be careful putting the new gear on the pump, have seen brand new gears that were held with something a bit too aggressive when they were being torqued that have ended up noisy as well.
I’m going to start with changing that gear out. Nothing seems to be affected by the noise and it goes away once I’m turning the wheels and alao Holding it at full lock
Is there a tie rod behind the axle as well? can't see one but am notoriously bad at finding things in pictures.
Looks like an abomination tbh but maybe someone else has seen something similar
The two great mysteries of the time was why Toyota never made a 4 cylinder version of the 1HD-T/FT/FTE and why Nissan never made a 6 cylinder version of the ZD30.
Both could have been excellent engines, better than either company had to offer...
The injection pumps on those are pretty simple electrically. You've got one solenoid for fuel and another for timing. The piggyback likely just intercepts both of those and takes inputs from throttle and boost too.
If it runs and drives...
Clean with a scraper, maybe a brass wire brush to get rid of any harder carbon deposits. Use petrol (gasoline) or something similar if needed. No power tools.
He is not exactly close to you being in Alberta but Steve at 4wheelauto could definitely sort you out. Look him up and at least give him a call.
I would put a GTurbo or UFI turbo on it, some +30 injectors and a Unichip. You will love it...
This is the gospel, right here. Get a baseline. Don’t just throw parts at it.
When you have the information listed above, these guys can give you better advice.
If you have a factory carb that requires a replacement fuel bowl as part of a...
You're working backwards. Timing, checking compression, checking idle vacuum, and valve lash should be your first steps. You need healthy vacuum for the carburetor to work properly.
I appreciate everyone's input. After more research and talking to some reps, I decided to go with the Slee remote resi shocks (built by ADS shocks). These seem to be the best option for what I need for my rig.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between gas and petrol? I thought it was the same thing just different names? Or by gas do you mean propane or natural gas?
Carb rebuild might help you? Drive it nice as described above too....
I have 3F and A440f in my FJ73, and the fuel consumption is no where near 30lt/100km.
More like 15lt per 100 when pushing hard (2.5 hours up the mountains to the good fly fishing spots hehe)
Can easily get 12lt/100 driving nicely.
Gotta remember...
All the setups I've seen the shock is basically a limiting strap which doesn't do well for durability if you use it as that. Have got BP51s on a couple of work utes and they've been excellent, but they all drive basically 100% on road.
