    FJ40 headliner recommendations?

@SteveH That looks really nice! I hope mine turns out that well when I'm finished. I still have the dang thing sitting in the box waiting for me to get time to do it. Your picture has motivated me.....

    FJ40 headliner recommendations?

I went with the OEM Toyota headliner 63311-90302. I figured since the rest of my FJ40 was original equipment I might as well keep the headliner OEM too. I found that the best price was with MegaZip from Japan. When I ordered a few months ago part was $272 and there was a discount code that...

Let me introduce Phred, my 1973 FJ40.

Another summer in the books. I drove the fj40 to work yesterday and ran into a guy with something you don't see every day....a Nissan Patrol. That thing makes my '73 fj40 look like a Honda Accord on the rarity scale! I've only seen a hand full of Patrols in my life and I don't recall one ever...

    Fuel and Temp gauges intermittent

I noticed something about my fuel/temp gauge dilemma and hope it may point to the culprit. My fuel gauge was reading empty today when I started her up this morning, but I assumed the gauge was just having one of it's tantrums so I headed to work (I have an auxiliary fuel tank so I wasn't...

    FJ40 headliner recommendations?

@Green Bean That's what I was wondering! I could feel the bolt inside that piece but was hoping the steel would lift off with the top once you removed the small bolt at the windshield and the one visible screw at the B pillar. I'll check it out a little more to see how that comes apart. Thanks.

    FJ40 headliner recommendations?

So I decided to go with OEM and found the best deal from megazip.com from Japan. It turned out that WITH SHIPPING it was about the same price as the aftermarket versions from Cruiser Corps or SOR shipped. From what I've read, the OEM version might not have quite as think of foam padding on it...

    FJ40 headliner recommendations?

@peterb Can you verify that the OEM headliner has the foam backing pad on it? I found the part number 63311-90302 for not much more than the aftermarket versions but I want to make sure I'm not missing something. If that part number has foam backing I'm going to purchase it. Thanks.

    FJ40 headliner recommendations?

@peterb Thanks for that bit of info. It amazes me how many OEM parts Toyota still carries for these old rigs. Holy CRAP they are proud of that OEM headliner!! So that's why I started this thread......is that OEM version really worth 3x the price of the SOR or Cruiser Corps version? If it...

    FJ40 headliner recommendations?

@SteveH Thanks for the link to that thread....I didn't catch that one before. It's great to see a side-by-side comparison, especially for the color difference. I'm wondering how many other "versions" there are out there of the same "factory-style" headliner? In that thread he talks about the...

    FJ40 headliner recommendations?

I've searched the forum but haven't seen any specific recommendations so I'm asking for recommendations. I'm pulling the top on my 1973 FJ40 to repaint the white and replace the headliner. I've been searching headliners and am wondering if anyone has a suggestion of which one to buy? I'm sure...

Let me introduce Phred, my 1973 FJ40.

I'll dig through my receipts and try to find the exact bulbs I got. I know there were no modifications needed at all, but my bulbs are a cool white color. I did the dash cluster bulbs, turn signal indicators and the high beam indicator. I also did the factory dome light and it is literally...

Let me introduce Phred, my 1973 FJ40.

Nope. No modifications to the cluster at all. Just white LED replacement bulbs and it is AMAZING. So so so much better than stock incandescent bulbs. I can actually see the high beam indicator light now too.

Let me introduce Phred, my 1973 FJ40.

It's been a bit since I posted so thought I'd throw this up. I got the new LED bulb from SUPERBRIGHTLEDS installed last night. It's crazy how something so insignificant can make such a difference. The green glow of "LIGHTS" on that switch makes me smile......

    FJ40 floor mat options/opinions??

1971. I got it from the second owner for $5. It had been sitting in a garage since 1984. Really solid original car. I've installed new interior/carpet and am finishing installing the new cloth top. Fun little car that's got all the cool Italian style of the early 70's. I don't drive it...

    Fuel and Temp gauges intermittent

@MOTOV8R That's the kind of information I knew someone would have! I'll mess around with the wire to the fuel sending unit and see if I find anything. My fj40 has a second fuel tank that was installed at the dealership when new and that tank has a fuel sending unit too...that works. I flip a...
