If you like the wagon style honestly keep the 80. So much better than any 2000 or older 70 series. The 1fz is better than the 1hz unless your bouncing around a farm.
Because these trucks are as aerodynamic as a brick.
At highway speed, there is a wave of high pressure air in front of the truck. The fan creates low pressure behind the radiator that allows air to flow through as opposed to around.
These trucks...
With everything else that was apparently done wrong on the engine; the cam could be out of time with the crank.
Are you sure your sound isn’t just exhaust leaks if your exhaust is that bad?
It did do this with the old carb and dizzy. I also richened up that carb and had put in that mechanical stop on the advance armature to get it running with minimal knock, though not none. Vac advance is capped off on the carb.
I got this setup...
Jesse (and all), try this simple test. Put your feet about 16" apart (maybe more if your balance requires), lock your knees, and do a little hop. Just a couple of inches, nothing big. You will feel the jolt transfer straight through to your neck...
Higher lifts are achieved by bigger arches.
Bigger arches mean longer springs.
Longer springs equal increased potential range of motion.
Increased range of motion requires longer shackles.
Shell Rotella 15-40.
In all honesty, it’s a tractor motor. Any motor oil off the shelf is going to be fine.
No need to overthink motor oil on a 40+ year old engine.
Nearly $1k in parts, and easily 10hrs labor to strip and clean knuckles, replace calipers, rotors, fabricate replacement lines, wrestle with rusty bolts, bleed brakes, or everything back together.
Sounds about right at $2k
Don't want to be...
The OP is in Aus, parts are relatively easy here, decent mechanics seems to be hard to come by in most places, but diesel Land Cruisers are not rare.
However, a 1HZ isn't overdue for a partial rebuild at 317,000 km if it's had anything...
That does not look good. Those cylinder walls look pitted. Oil mixed with coolant forms acids that destroy bearings. I see no point in doing just a cylinder head. I think you would be better off with a good used engine if your in a jam financially.
FYI: an 80 series is a very maintenance heavy vehicle. Not college kid friendly, unless you are willing to work on it yourself.
Since you don't have the money, do you have the time and are you willing to learn?
IMHO, if you are replacing the...
That sounds correct, and yes those numbers are spot on. Your engine is fine. This is why I like to do all the work myself on my vehicles. If the shop is not trying to outright rip you off, then at best they are incompetent.
I would drive and...
