Pulling the transmission/t-case combo isn’t that much of a thing if the plug is really the issue.
easily done in a few hours if not doing a bunch of “while you’re in there”.
Do you have any other thoughts where it might be coming from?
Given the close proximity of the firewall mounted heater control valve and the drip you see, check this “warm pull” action to double check…I discovered a slow but steady drip when that valve was in the closed position on my 40. It did not drip...
I checked everywhere else and the surrounding area of the flywheel cover doesn’t have anything running on either side of it.
I wiped the flywheel cover where its dripping from and once I finished wiping it started dripping again.
Started my 40 today to make sure she’s running properly before converting to a sniper only to find out that I have antifreeze leaking underneath my bell housing.
This makes me sick to my stomach.
Installed an FJ60 steering wheel in Lilred while we decide how to attack restoring our original steering wheel. Thank you @knuckle47 for the steering wheel. Fits and works great.
I agree abrasive in the cylinders isn't a good idea. Ajax scouring powder is aggressive stuff. Maybe something like Bon Ami, it doesn't scratch glass like Ajax.
I think a real solution is pull the head and pistons and rough up the bore with...
I’m recently unemployed with the 12.5 year civy job. The details are ridiculous and I won’t share here.

order is exemplar. Its not just...

Instead of resurrecting an ancient thread, try a pm next time.
Duct was lost by freight or recipient and I had zero others interested in production. The project died a quick death. When I finally put the 40 series on the market (2007?) I had to...
I almost bought a brand new mustard '83 FJ40 from Toyota West in Las Vegas, NV. Otherwise I'd be able to post a photo. I ended up buying a new beige '84 FJ60 which better suited my needs for a growing family. They were side by side on the...
This old workhorse was the second FJ45 we used as a farm sprayer, a lot of bits were swapped from an earlier one that folded in half. Never missed a beat and was replaced 12 or so years ago with an 8 tonne Isuzu. It's been a really useful donor...
