Doing a little bit of work on my 80 project I drug home a few months back. Now that it runs and drives and has functioning 4wd it’s time to start the build. I pieced together a lift consisting of Old Man Emu springs, 2850J front 2863 rear and a...
Update number…whatever this is:
After adding the Speed Engineering headers I had to replace the dip stick with one from Summit. It’s for an LT1 and clears the aftermarket headers. Chevrolet Performance Part # 12678823...
I wouldn’t say it doesn’t work because it absolutely does. To think you can have a 100% bolt on no problem LS or LT swap is unrealistic. The only thing I’ve had to do was swap headers and space out the gear box. Hell the factory crossmember even...
Here is the install of the Tejas kit. In the first pic you see the bracket bolts to the factory vacuum pump location and you see the cut out for the oil pressure sender (if you want) I’m either putting my factory oil sender there( with an...
The DI is nothing to be worried about. L86 is all aluminum and run very cool. This rig will see trails all summer long with 2 kids and AC plus it’ll tow a camper there and back. I wanted all the cooking I could get and still run like stock. These...
How hot does it get in your part of Texas? I’m on the fence yet on any LS/LT swap here in AZ as I know others have struggled with keeping engine temps in check here. The DI aspect of an LT concerns me some too, but the Torfab solution is very...
I'm starting this thread to document the parts, costs and work done, as fully as possible. Ill be adding info as I go along. Im doing all work myself except for the manifold back exhaust. Work will begin in March 2024 and be finished in time for...
Wow! That should definitely be disclosed up front and on the website!
I have given serious thought to using one as adapter for LS+6L80 swap. If it’s not suitable for prolonged highway use, that makes it a nonstarter.
I have some experience with these and have seen one in action but not on an 80.
What it will work on is an A440 which is the earliest trans that came in the 91-92 80 series. I have seen one installed at the shop I work at onto an H55 and then...
what are you using to evaluate the this?
Honestly I can see that manufacturing techniques have progressed to a point where a design concern in 1992 might not be relevant.
Personally I won't run an engine with out one.
You could be right.... i still have the old ones sitting in the engine bay where they were left. I'll go out and see if they are still there. This is another example of how the FSM is really clear about most things but it skips some stuff too...
