The biggest headache for me is dealing with wiring... already. Lol. Don't depend on anyone in AUS to provide a ready built harness that's plug and play with any automatic transmission. Ive had conversations with all the big names, mick fte...
You're looking for comfort? Highish speed desert driving?
Any tuneable shock will work with proper tuning
King has linear piston with easy to get shims and straightforward to work on - probably best bet. Especially if you're not in the US

Just fyi for people who don’t know.
The 105-series uses the same frame as an 80-series. Just different body mounts. Swapping a chassis is not for everyone that’s for sure but it turns your 100-series into a 105 which had a SFA from Toyota.
Cheers
TOTALLY forgot about the other thing that made this trip easy and fun. Installed a full 2.5" ICON/DVS kit before heading out. This stuff is about as awesome as sharks with lazors strapped to them! Such a mind blowing difference between this rig...
Great story and an awesome looking truck, Galen. Congrats!
That's an excellent plan, IMO. After owning about a dozen of these trucks in all imaginable configurations, i can honestly say that keeping the stock OEM suspension on my current one...

Well, just got back from my trip! Drove from Denver to the San Juans, had some awesome campsites, one was off of the Rimrocker trail in Montrose, another Off of Cinnamon Pass just outside of Lake City. Ended up driving around 900+ miles over...
Tossed on the 35x11.5x17 Falken Wildpeak AT/4's I've had sitting around for nearly a year. So glad I replaced the Linglong MT's I had that were probably 15 years old. Going camping this weekend in her, might be the last camping trip before I...
Hey all, relatively new to the 80's series platform, but I've always been a fan and wanted one for years. Then I made a terrible mistake, I started researching builds and which way I wanted to take my LX450. Then I really made a mistake and...
Just take your dash apart, and put it back together again. I always seem to finish with spare screws, I'm sure you'll come up with at least one that has no other home
That's a thousand word essay (all wasted) with 98 different opinions (all based on personal experience).
It's been discussed in the past to avoid the cheapest WIX filters but since then WIX was bought out
by Mann Hummel, so IDK if that still...
Theres two ways to get into a nice 80 these days:
1) buy a cheap one and hemmorage money making it decent (I've spent nearly 3 years doing this to my pile)
2) spend a s***load of money on a nice built one that someone else hemmoraged money...
If you’re in northern Virginia reach out to @OTRAMM his shop is up there and they would be a great resource for you. He might even know of an 80 that they’ve worked on that’s looking for a new home.
