I fired it off with open headers to make sure it was oiling before I put the valve cover on.

Safety first, right? My kids ride in the back and I’ve been meaning to put 3-point belts in the truck for a while now. I bought them from SeatBeltPlanet months ago, but it took some planning and finally the first one installed today. Finished...

while waiting on a few things to come in for my steering/suspension, I decided to take more stuff apart. Turns out my NV4500 is fine-ish.. what I thought was it being broken was the shift tower bolts all having fallen out... no wonder it was...

Can't really tell in this pic but there's a huge gouge in the tie rod from the drag link end hitting it. 2nd to last pic shows where the outer shackles rubbed the leaf springs at full flex and they were grinding away on each other. Last pic, one...

I also have an aluminum radiator. FWIW I left the foam off and it has made zero difference. Good fan and fan clutch with shroud in place. Runs nice and cool. Granted I haven’t been driving with AC on in 90+ degree temps. Good stuff happening in...

Took the coil off of my truck to fix a 40. Felt bad about that so threw a spare on and then got the truck moved around long enough to help a friend get his 60 tuned up. Twisted his arm to take the Weber off, and I finally set the timing and carb...

Drove 3 hour round trip to get a free spare F engine for the 40. The wind slowed me down more than the weight. Thanks @ERNRAM, your 55 is awesome.

357,000 miles. Using some oil, not smoking and running good. This thread has gotten boring because of how good and solid the truck has been.

NO, the F and H input is coarse and the B input is fine spline and longer

Just gassed it up after a week of commuting 65 miles round trip. (I’m off tomorrow for my birthday) Oil pan still holding solid. 13.3mpg Ain’t gonna complain

Thank you for the follow up! I was contemplating just using the straight pipe. I am waiting for @cruisermatt to finish up the FJ62 stainless steel exhaust header back to the OEM muffler pipe connection. Maybe by the Holidays??!

@MWM1 Update for you. I would say you can definitely tell it doesn’t have one. Windows down wind coming from behind me type thing. I wouldn’t call it overpowering though. Just a tractor doing race tractor things.

The most throttle response I ever had was when I ran a Weber 38/38. Also had a big open element air cleaner right on top of it. I then ran stock carb with stock air cleaner, not bad. Then switched to Sniper with stock air cleaner which behaves...

I'll def post some pics more shortly. Had to go out of town for work. Looking to use it for what it was intended. Land Cruising! Right now just driving it locally around town to see what I find that could cause me problems or in the middle of...

Sniper EFI did not increase my gas mileage. I wouldn’t do it for that. I switched because I was tired of ethanol gas effects on my carb. My rig sits over the winter. I can turn the key after months of sitting and it starts right up now.

Welcome to MUD :flipoff2: (<—official IH8MUD welcome) Post some pics. What will you use the rig for?

@CruiserTrash from what I read through all of this it sounds like the current problem is the truck does not start. He has headlights, possibly front marker lights. No tail, brake, or dome light. Unsure about front and rear side markers. Sounds...

Honestly I couldn’t tell a difference. I had the windows down today… they will be down again tomorrow too. Found out today my AC doesn’t work. I’ll see if I notice anything. My drive is about 32 miles and I go through 12 traffic lights. I’ll keep...

Why didn’t I do this sooner? Took it to the muffler shop down the street from my work. It starts better. Seems to run a little better. Sound stayed about the same. Maybe a touch more raspy at idle and under acceleration. Best $86 bucks I’ve...

Honestly I didn’t test fit the pan. I remember you having issues with that and I was concerned. That’s why I compared them side by side. Once I saw they were identical on the bench I just sent it. Before I torqued the pan down firmly I did wiggle...

Personally, I like the 14m drain plug VS the 19m plug MUCH better. It’s not that big of a deal but for me anyway, the oil rushes out too quickly with the larger plug. With the larger plug I have to hold it close after I fully loosen it in...

Same suspension, same bushings. I had a bushing fail, didn’t catch it, had to buy new front springs because one of the leaf spring eyelets deformed. The insert just flopped around in the spring once that happened. Definitely have to check those...
