I've tried tons of high quality aftermarket wipers. The OEM stuff is second to none, and easily outlasts supposedly "better" aftermarket stuff.
Blade inserts for me. They're more of a hassle, but the performance is worth.
I use the same Yeti cup. A few pennies worth of 1/2" peel-and-stick weatherstrip foam, holds it nice and snug. Been on there since 2018.
(BTW, had a 700 BDL way back in 1986, in .222)
You don't have to unscrew anything, it's really easy. No tools required. Here's a video that shows you how, only 2 mins long, yeah it's a Highlander but the Cruiser is exactly the same. It will take you longer to watch this video than it will to...
There is one more way to make them slightly more automatic(ish). When you park, push the button and they’ll fold in. Turn the vehicle off then push the button again. When you come back and start it up, the mirrors will “automatically” fold out.
Since it was sitting idle for a week, and this is the only time you have observed this noise, I have a different idea.
If this turns out to be a one-time incident, i.e. you start your vehicle several more times without observing the same noise...
