Hi All,
This forum came highly recommended from a couple friends of mine.
I bought this 1978 FJ40 from my uncle, it's a rusty old girl that looks to have spent it's entire life in the Midwest.
The good; it runs and drives, stops, has a title and hasn't been molested at all.
The bad; it is rusted everywhere and rusted through most everywhere.
My ideal scenario, unless someone has a better idea, would be to find a FJ or a BJ 40 that doesn't have a title or is just a roller with a good frame and body that I could swap over the driveline, mechanical components and glass over to.
Or maybe I sell it to someone else to do the same thing with a clean chassis that they have?

Reluctantly selling my 1974 FJ40. Purchased as a non-running questionable impulse buy in January 2017, I have lovingly spent many hours and lots of dollars getting “Darryl” back on the road using oem toyota parts or bits and pieces I’ve sourced from all kinds of different people and places. Has largely functioned as a grocery getter, beer run chariot, neighborhood pool wagon, and fun way to visit nearby friends and family and grab pizza on Friday nights.

The truck is far from perfect, I build this rig 2 years ago in about 42 days. I have done some more work here and there but it has been my daily driver for the last 2 years. Ive driven it out of state a few times over 1,200 miles to wheel and camp then drove it home. On average hwy gets 13.5mpg running 65mph. Truck does 65-70 Absolutely sorted steering and brakes, no bump steer does not hunt the road drives straight as an arrow! The ride is great, the brakes are fantastic it is such a fun truck to drive and gets a lot of attention.

Selling my '78 FJ40. Bought it a couple summers ago as a fun project/weekend car. Do not have the time or practical use for it at this point in my life. Dropping to $9250, would like to sell soon. 1981 FJ40 for sale. Olive color. The tub from the firewall back is all rust. The frame on the driver's rear is thin from the axle back and has rust holes. Has a complete 2F engine and 4 speed with transfer case. Engine turns freely, but no idea if it will run. The carb is completely rusted and won't move. Looks like all the engine accessories are still there, including the smog pump. Has power steering box and pump.
White spoked wheels and tires have been replaced with an old set of wheels.
