Up for sale is our 1975 FJ40. I started a frame off 10 years ago and it breaks my wife's’ heart that I can not finish this. I started a rebuild page here on Mud as well. Photos of the tear down, new rotisserie.
All was going well, until my hands started with Dupuytren's Contracture. I’ve lost the use of both hands from this genetic disease as my fingers are all curled up.
Clean title since 1985 when I purchased her.
This is a great Father/ Son/ Daughter, Husband/ Wife project.
The entire body was sandblasted except for the 4 doors, 2 front and 2 rear.
Tub has been braced w/ 2" X 2" square stock, so the Tub is square and ready to mount to new rotisserie.
The frame has no damage, needs a good repaint. Just some surface rust.

I am not set on any year, just ideally looking for something with a SB conversion, power steering, manual transmission (not a must), small lift, 33"-35" tires, etc. I would like to find something close to complete; however, I don't mind a few projects for the right base. I have dreamed of owning a mustard-colored Land Cruiser since seeing my first one at the age of 14. I am finally in a financial position to be able to afford one and want to start my search.
Preference for late-model ('80 or newer) FJ40/BJ40/BJ42/FJ43 in mustard yellow. May also consider older years (pre '80), but want mustard yellow color. Preference for matching numbers, as well as one that was originally mustard. If BJ40 or BJ42, preference for left-hand drive. Don't have to be fully restored (although open to that), but would prefer something that is currently operable and isn't a complete bucket. But beggars can't be choosers, so let me know what you have.
Based in Utah, but willing to travel nationwide for the right rig...

Great project. Needs some work to be road worthy.
It starts right up, original engine is good. Original drive train is good. Some surface rust but no rot.
Perfect candidate to restore as we all know these late FJ40 models are very sought after nowadays.
With a small effort it can be on the road while it gets fixed up.
This a very educated crowd so I won't offend your intelligence by stating the obvious “Late”FJ40 (79 and up) already have from factory, the common "upgrades" early models are subject to, such as faster diffs for highway speeds, better engine, better ignition, power brakes, power steering etc.
Needs body work on rear quarters, floors seem to have been replaced a while...
1977 FJ40... asking $8800
Pretty clean and unmolested. Has some dings to the driver's side fender and door. But it's definitely a rust free southwest truck. A great truck to build from. Originally mustard yellow but re-sprayed the blue color at some point.
Factory disk brake front axle. Complete interior: seats, jump seats, center console, gas tank and tank cover, dash is intact and not too messed with. Missing the engine, but pretty much everything else is under the hood. Has (I assume to be original) 4 speed tranny and transfer case as well as drive shafts.
Windshield and door glass is good. Sorry, but no top. Also has the large aftermarket auxiliary gas tank under the back. Stock springs with some extended shackles.

SOLD! Solid 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. California truck with highly desirable "sky blue 854" color in original paint and the truck is mostly original with the blue and yellow California plates. Upgrades that have been done are tasteful and useful. The suspension has been upgraded with the Hell for Stout suspension including a shackle lift and 33 inch BFG KM2 tires. Other modifications include a long range secondary gas tank and a rear disc brake conversion. I bought this in 1995/6 as a parts vehicle or project but other projects and life got in the way. I cut out any corrosion it has (mainly the usual place in the rear channel).
It has a very solid tub and I have a new rear channel from Cool Cruisers. I also have a spare new pair of fenders and sides/quarters, which were for another project.
I have a hard top and doors from a 1977 FJ40 (the fiberglass top will need a new channel (at least the rear part).
The front seats were stolen at some point (from a trim shop).

Up for sale is my 1978 FJ40. I have owned the truck almost 5 years. Its an original blue plate Cali truck. Clean title in my name.
Originally Dune Beige. Previous owner (unfortunately) resprayed silver. Luckily they didnt do the engine bay or jams, so would be easy to revert to original color. Truck is pretty low rust. There is some rust under the rear doors. My plan was to buy the new stamped sheet metal and cut out the old and in with a new piece. The body is straight with some minor body work required on the drivers door and the rear doors. Interior is all original. Seats need to be reupholstered.
