In an effort to keep the thread on track let's keep this as mileage ONLY.

Comments on how to improve mileage should go here https://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-tech-24-volts-systems/400741-fuel-mileage-considerations.html

This way you can check your mileage against similar rigs in this thread and you can see what others are doing to improve their mileage in the other thread.

Don't think has been done before. At least at a quick glance I have not seen a comparison thread.

Mileage: l/100km 11.42 (mixed driving- 30% highway, 70% city)
Mileage: US mpg 20.60
Mileage: Imp mpg 24.74

Vehicle: 1989 BJ74
Engine/Tranny combo: 13BT/H55F/Marks 1:08/3:05 t-case gears/4:11 diffs
Odometer: 184,000kms
Tire Size: 315/75R16 Goodyear MTR on FZJ aluminum wheels

Special Notes: Speedo correction gear so numbers are accurate. Never done a compression test, injectors done, turbo rebuilt, synth fluids throughout. Truck sits heavy with all my s*** in it all the time.

And some assistance: Convert Fuel consumption, Liters per km, Yahoo! Canada Answers - How do you calculate L/100km fuel economy?

!982 BJ 60 (I call it a 61 because I put square eyes on it)
3B/H55 with a tcase out of a 62. 470,000k on the odometer
4.88 gears, 33 9.50's Speedometer is off 2 miles per hour at 55, reads 57 compared to my GPS

Last tank of fuel got me 20 mpg, rural country highway, town and 15 miles of lowrange wheeling. This seems typical of what I always get for mileage. Even pulling my camp trailer. Did get 23 out of one tank.

BJ 74..... LT/AT 235-85 R16..... 22 MPG - 25 MPG..... 10.7 - 9.4 L/100km..... [corrected for tire size]..... mixed city - highway

My records are over a distance of 250.000 km and a bit. Wheeling, towing my caravan (1600 kgs) over a distance of about 90.000 k's (lost the full data there), daily driving.
Until recently the numbers where somewhat bad but they improved significantly after the injectors got replaced during the 250000 km maintenance.
Figures are corrected for odometer error.

7.56 km to the liter, 17.78 miles to the gallon on average.
Worst: 3,56 km to the liter, best: 9,42 km to the liter.

bj70, 3b, h55, 4.1 gears, 255/85/16 tires.

I usually get 27-29mpg (imp). I've cracked 30 a couple times, but for a heavy rusty box with no aerodynamic qualities, I figger that's ok.

I mostly drive highway, and take it pretty easy, pyro rarely goes over 900 degrees in this truck.

1989 BJ 74, 315-75-r16, 4:11 diffs 1:08 to 1 Hi 3:05 to 1 lo H55f
speedo is Corrected
vehicle weight is 5825lbs always loaded and ready to go
avg imp. mpg 24.7
1989 HJ 61, 31-10.50, 4:11 diffs my d.d. H55f
avg imp. mpg 28.7

1998 Suburban 6.5T
I get around 17 mpg (imp) city driving.
On a recent trip to road trip to Whistler I got 26 mpg (imp).
Towing my 45 on a two axle trailer (all highway miles) I get about 18 mpg (imp).

These numbers are averages over many tanks of fuel.

Sorry it's not a cruiser, but I don't think a cruiser could do what the 'burb does for me. It's much bigger than a cruiser and has a much higher towing capacity. I had played with the idea of an 80 with a HDT but I don't think I would get better milage and I would certainly suffer with room and tow capacity.

83- F(B)J-60, Denco Turbo Kit, H55F, 4.11 diffs, 33x10.5x15 BFG MTR's on stock chromies, Aussie Locker rear, Always loaded with spare, hi-lift, and tools.

I drive 70/30 City/Highway and always get AVG 20 US MPG. I use a 5% mileage correction to account for tires and gears, based on GPS comparison.

330,000 miles on odometer.

Hills, wind and loaded roof rack drop numbers to 17.5- 18.5 MPG. I go 'fast' when I can- its my size 13 foot I blame.

13l/100km city (50km/h) and 13l/100km Highway. (90km/h) with my 4speed. 235/75/R15 Normal B engine (600 000km)

Empty or with more then 200lbs of americain steel to rebuild the body and a trailler with 1000pound of thinks for a camping trip.. don't forget ten pack of 24 beers for the Week on backseat. It's 13L/100km

Don't know now with my 33'' tire and 5 speed with turbo B engine(rebuild)... but certainly a little less then that beacause the rpm is now at 2200 for 90km/h. Before the 5 speed and 33'' tire it's was at 2650rpm. I will look soon But this kind of motor drink more if you run at high rpm then if your loaded with hundred stuff. Drink certainly 20% more at 110km/h then 90km/h.

1990 HDJ81 VX limited (auto tranny), I fill up with 70 litres of diesel every 500-550 km mixed driving. Vehicle is stock except for a 2"ish lift and 28575r16 tires, speedo & odo seem to be accurate when comparing to all the digital speed signs around town. For a longer trip to Osoyoos last spring, I filled up in Chilliwack and then filled up in Hope on the way home. I don't have the trip log handy, but that I was happy with that mileage.

BJ74 - gets around 12L/100km give or take - almost exclusively town driving.

HJ61 - 5 speed/3.70/255 85 R16 - gets from 9.5 to 11L/100 km. Typical is about 10.5L/100km on mixed town/highway driving. On longer trips I have seen some even better economy... upwards of 38 MPG imperial (higher elevation, really watching my speed and the pyro like a hawk... and got nearly twice the fuel economy of the V8 Tundra I was following). Last trip to Alberta and back, we got slightly better than 10L/100km quite consistently on the way there, and a little better than that on the way back (drove slower, watched pyro carefully).

- 84 HJ47 Troopy 2H with about 220k miles, not sure of rebuilds but she runs great, and there are some hand painted markings on the side of the valve cover... so maybe she has had the top end redone but don't know for sure.
- Not sure if the tires size is stock, but it does have some kind of lift and the tires measure out to 32.4" with plenty of room to spare.
- 4 spd (granny 1st never used)
- axle gear ratio unknown
- Cruising at approx 65 mph (3k rpm) for about 30 minutes she got 18.5 mpg US.

Vehicle: 1984 BJ60
Engine/Tranny combo: 13B/H55F/stock 3.70 diffs
Odometer: close to 200,000kms
Tire Size: stock 235/75r15
Body is a litter lighter due to metal droppings. If you find them ,there not mine !!

RUST , or holes now.

11.18 /100 kms average .
I used this table

Speed sure has fuel control since were so aerodynamic.

Good thread gents to see.

Average around town/stop start driving 12-12.5L/100km. Has around 3'' lift and runs heavy, winch, front and rear bars, internal cage, draw system with all my trail spares, tools etc in it and I drive it quickly. Hoping a 3'' exhaust, and intercooler will lessen the consumption.

When I bolt on my 35''s and packed for a trip the fuel consumption does not go up that much, gets around 15-17L/100km.

My old FJ73 chewed though 25L/100km on the road, off road I saw up to 60L/100km, and it never went as good as my BJ74

Base on a 30 000km excel doc - winter and summer from -35C to 35C

Mileage: 12L / 100km
Mileage: US mpg 19
Mileage: Imp mpg 23

Vehicle: 1985 BJ70
Engine/Tranny combo: 3B / H55F / 3:70 diffs
Odometer: 311 000kms
Tire Size: 275/75R16 Toyo MT (summer) - 235/70R15 Yoko IT (winter)

I filled up almost exactly 10 gallons (US gallons) and drove about 250 km since my last fillup.
Back of the envelope that is between 18 and 20 miles per US gallon. Lower than my normal. But much of that driving was on California Highway 17, which is a fairly steep mountain up and down.

hd-t motor. fj80 vehicle. 4.11 gears. 33x12.50r15 Geolander MT tires. Manual 5-speed.

1884 HJ60, 90.000 miles on the engine, turbo, 33' tires, lift, front and rear custom bumpers.
new 5 speed, rebuilt transfer, rebuilt everything in the axles.
20mpg on mostly overland driving.

84 BJ60 NA 3B with ~260,000km. 33's and 4.11 with 3-4" lift, roof rack and spare tire on roof, generally loaded with gear.

Best has been around 10l/100km, typical is around 12l/100km, sometimes as much as 14l/100km. I don't keep that great of a long term record but mostly noted for extended trips, so at least 75% is hwy mileage.

In the summer the truck tends to have a range of about 600km before refueling around 70l.
