So we're going to head up to this mining claim next week? Was that what I just heard?

(So you don't get overly excited.... you know who you are!)

Case in point.... :D

That seriously sounds like a LOT more fun than sitting around in the rain on the coast!

Hmm, I wonder if we could put in a little circular trail with some obstacles in it and have it sort of a "challange" course. With appropriate bypasses and such. Whadda ya think, Jerod?

I've been thinking about a timed course challenge thing for a while... and I think the mining claim could be a good spot for a try... :D

Well then, when should we go out to check it out? :hhmm:

Already in the works Gabe.... maybe this next weekend. We'll see how the plan falls together.... Do you have to work weekends?

I'm working on Sundays. (Off Fri/Sat.)

I'm busy this coming Sat...but don't have any plans after this weekend.

I don't think that we should do this in lue of first annual SNTN but as a suplimental run. Then maybe this could be one of our annual club runs?

18th?

Well, we may be rescheduling for the 18th..... All stop...... :D

18th would work for me. The weekend before would work as well (11th).

I would rather explore this than explore the dunes. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to do a SNT North, but this sounds more interesting to me than just bombing around on some sand.

Oh, I'm not dropping SNTN either! :D Although, maybe next year's SNTN should be a little earlier in the season with a better chance of good weather.

I'd be down with the mining claim as a annual club run, maybe mid summer....?

FYI, anyone wanting to come on the mining claim run is welcome, but I don't know how bad the river crossing will be, so bear that in mind.... It's never looked all that bad to me, but I need a disclaimer... :D

We'll just let Travis go first. He's got that "dumb jarhead" mentality that works so well for leading into unknown situations.

Since we got a little distracted.....

I've only talked to Garett about this, but I have an overnight trip planned out in my head. It involves taking the dirt roads from the Klamath river South over the mountains west of Yreka to Ft Jones, then take the highway to Etna, and over Etna Summit to the 20 acre mining claim where my family lived when I was little. The claim is no longer accessible by vehicle..... except for the "batman entrance" that is a river crossing that hasn't been driven over in years... IE a nice little challenge.

The crossing isn't deep or long, but the bank on the far side has gotten pretty steep, so it should be a fun time. I'm thinking something with lockers and a winch should lead the way... :D So the rest of us can be tugged up if needed... The mining claim is now riddled with rock piles and holes, most made by my dad long ago... So it should be a fun place to do some wheeling, and camp over night. The rock area is only about 5 acres... (So you don't get overly excited.... you know who you are!)

The big question mark on this is how high the water will be... summer or fall is the best time, as the water level has fallen by then...

Would it be pertinant for me to comment on the mentality of other members of our fine organization...say one that may have a great amount of cyber wheelin' experience and very little behind the wheel of a vehicle that actually leaves an office.:hhmm:

Damn...:hhmm:
