I'm a newb and want to see what this looks like. I'm thinking about going with this set up. Please help.

Those are the size of tire that came on my stock '92 Hilux Surf (Japanese 4Runner). They are tiny.

Try 33x10.5x15 at the minimum. Or 35x12.5x15 if you don't mind some minor trimming and occasional rub.

31x10.5x15, I think, is stock. That's slightly bigger than 235/75R15. Unless you're going for the low rider look or are looking for excellent city only mileage you're crazy.

I'm pretty sure 235/75-15 was the OEM tire size for a 91-92 80 that came with steel wheels.

I say go for it. If you're not needing the extra ground clearance larger tires will give you, then there is no need for a 31, 33 or 35.

EDIT: Just confirmed via ToyotaReference.com that the alloy package came with 31's. OP, If you click on the link and then click ont the brochure for 1991 and then click view, the white one with the chrome wheels has 235's.

So no one has pics of this set up? I'm thinking it would be the best set up for me. I carry very little, don't really go off road, and I love to take pictures in the mall parking lots with one tire on a curb.

How did you come upon this tire option? I think the lack of opinions and poster pictures is evidence enough that this is not a very functional option outside of flat landing and some snow. If you know it will work for you then go for it.

Exactly how is it not a functional setup? You're talking about an 1" or so of ground clearance difference between the 235's and 31's (both came stock on the 91-92). 235's will offer better fuel mileage, better performance around town and on hills and be cheaper to buy. Sounds like a win to me.

Huh? I said if his primary use is not off road then it's fine. I hope that we aren't starting a debate about a lack of ground clearance is superior off road:confused:

Running 235's doesn't limit the OP to the street and snow. There is plenty of desert and mountain terrain that can be run through with tires that small.

That was the O.E. size on the Ford Explorers. You know, the ones that had all the roll over problems due to tire issues. So if your going to run them, make sure they are load rated. That size is made for cars as well and you don't want to put those on your LC. Also check the spare. It'll have to be the same size!!

You win, 235's are a kick ass tire for Land Cruiser's:bang::meh:

What no one has run this before?

Why don't you just google "stock FJ80" or something like that. That's what your 80 will look like.

That's pretty much it

This tire is pretty small, less than 29" diameter and just under 7 inches wide. In spite of some of the comments here, that is a fair bit smaller than the OEM tire size. There is nothing wrong with that, but you will be sitting pretty low and with an original suspension, the stock shocks/springs are pretty fatigued you will drag over a lot on anything more than the most modest trails. I'll ask you again, what has you on this line of tire size, how did you come up with this? If someone is giving them to you or you already have them or can get them real cheap, then that is one thing. If you are trying to improve fuel economy you will find that FZJ80's seem to be pretty stuck in the 12-16 MPG range and mostly depends on your driving style.

No offense meant... but what's the point of this? Why not just get a minivan and get 25+mpgs?
