was just curious what should eb expected to have a shop do just the castor correction on a 96 lx? i dont have a press or any tools on hand to do it and im sick of driving thousands of miles with out the correction done

Yeah I would think most places would charge as Slee does, by how long it takes. . . The place I took my DIY parts for my Panhards (Leonard's Offroad) just charged by the hour as well. . .

Just a note that it's one heck of a press that's required. My truck isn't rusted at all but the OEM bushings were stuck in there good.

It also helps to have a jig of some sort to receive the old bushing into while holding the arm in a stable and secure fashion.

I would also suggest that if you are using a shop that's not familar with what the bushing does and why you are replacing them... then you should fully understand the process of marking and positioning the bushings.

The guys I used didn't have a clue but at least they listened to me when I told them (showed them) what we were doing. They do big lifts all the time but had never thought of the caster being important. Real bone heads.

I have a buddy who just told me that he has access to a 100 ton press @ work and we could use it to press my soon to be ordered OEM bushings in. Is this something that a   wrencher can do? Also, how will I know how to line up the OEM's with OME's in there now? Anyone in the Bellingham area that has the bushing press tool I could barrow for a 12 pack of your favorite  ?

I've got one and I need to go to Birch Bay soon, probably Friday or Saturday. PM me if you want me to bring it down.

When installing OEM bushings there is no lining up to be done.

The bushings need to be installed with the holes at the top and bottom for maximum flex.

Got a chance to scan in the bushing alignment from the FSM.
Bushing alignment.webp

Quite true on the alingment...I was only considering the center bushing, which of course not offset.

I just installed my Castor Correction this past week. I marked and pulled the arms myself and took them into a local shop to press out the old bushings. They let me go in the back and place the bushing where they needed to be and they pressed them in form me. I was charged $50 for the work, a great deal less than I expected.
