Yes, I have searched and cannot find the part number of the blue top one. I had a P0401 show up this morning and I want to start with the new modulator. My rig has the green top modulator on it right now.
Thanks in advance.

Bump...

I can't find why you guys are switching to the blue top. I have my injectors pulled right now for cleaning and was trying to test my EGR Vacuum Modulator and it doesn't seem to work. BUT I haven't thrown a code so should I dare replace it and see what happens or put the old one back on? And that is why I asked the first question, what's up with the blue one?

Thanks,

Nothing is up with the blue EGR modulator other than it is a newer version than the "green" one that was supplied when these trucks were built. If you are not throwing a code then, IMHO, there is absolutely NO REASON to switch to a blue top EGR modulator.

Thanks Beo, what about even replacing it if I'm not throwing a code? I took it off and blew in the side going to the egr while plugging off the 2 ports going to the throttle body and didn't get any air to escape from the cap. Maybe I am reading the FSM wrong in doing this? But if not then it might not be functioning correctly or maybe they mean more air than just blowing into it?

Garett,
It has been a very long time since I did the modulator tests but the way that I remember it was the FSM tests were accurate and that you could blow into the hose and that was enough air pressure to do the tests. If you need vacuum, you can't suck hard enough so I would use a port on the intake for vacuum.

A modulator that is not functioning correctly should be replaced but I would think you would be getting a code on your '95 which is probably an OBD-II vehicle.

I will see if the local dealer can source me one and I will try the test on a new one and see if I get different results, if I do I will replace but keep me old one just in case a code pops with the new one.
