How many of you have advanced you timing beyond 3* on a 1fzfe?

I did this on my 3vze with good results.

How much have you advanced it and what were the results of the advance?

I've ran up to 7* with no problems.

did you notice any changes in power or milage?

Both are running at 7 degrees, the 93 for about 6 years now, and the 97 for about 3 years. I *believe* I noted some mid range improvement but it has been so long I'm not sure what the change felt like. There was a thread about it and I described it then. No MPG improvement I can discern and when both engines were opened for HGs last year there was zero evidence of preignition despite some heavy duty towing on both.

Ditto. Running about 7 degrees, feels a little more responsive, same gas mileage. I run 89 octane just to be safe.

DO NOT advance the timing on a forced-induction 1FZ. You will be picking up bits of off the tarmac if you do.

If you do choose to advance the timing on a natrually-aspirated version pay close attention to the engine and listen for spark-knock.

The ECU doesn't compensate the timing IAW programmed values?
