Here is what I did for a front sound stage in my truck. Owning a car audio store would just not let me cram whatever speaker would fit into the door. The lower spot will hold a 6.5" midbass driver and I will be putting a 4" in the factory spot with a tweeter just above it. 3 ways with lots of power sound amazing. Just figured you guys might want to check it out. Tell me what you think. The vinyl is pretty much a perfect match. And I liked the OEM carpet look so I incorporated that too.

Yes, beautifully done!!!

What type of speakers? What about all the other things - amps, crossovers, etc. I'd love to learn more especially with your experience and expertise. Thanks.

Thanks for all the positive remarks. The rest of my system is as follows. For a head unit I chose the Alpine IVA-D100 flipout dvd screen. That feeds the Alpine PXA-701 processor which will allow me to cross over the speakers pretty much however I want. I will be using the mid-bass bandpass crossover for my mids low in the doors and then use the high pass for a set of components up higher in the original factory spots. The rears I havent decided on yet. I may try to get a significant speaker into the way back locations and ignore the doors since they will be a better location for rear surrounds when in 5.1 mode, but how often that will be I don't know. I have not decided on speakers yet. I may use the MB Quart Q series that I already have, or try something new. I definetly will be using my old school PPI amps though. The ones that look like mufflers. I have one thats 4 channels 100 watts per channel. One thats a 600 watt sub amp and one thats 2 channels 50 per channel. For subs I'd like to run 3 JL audio 8" W3v3s. I love 8s. So tight and musical. I'm very slow at my own projects though, and I have a couple of them going at once. So don't look for any huge updates any time soon. I did however just install the Motorola bluetooth hands free kit tonight. It works great. I recommend it.

Looks very impressive, like it came from the factory that way.

Clean install. Looks very good! Ditto on post #8.................

I don't have a lot of build pictures unfortunately. But I do have a picture of one of them before the vinyl. I'll post that up. Basically what I did was to create a ring out of MDF and cut a hole in the factory pocket and set it in there. I used epoxy and then a bumper repair filler to attach/smooth it. Then a little body filler for more smoothness. Using the factory piece made it much easier to attach to the door and keep the time down. Total working time on each door is probably 2-3 hours. I have not enclosed the side of the speaker yet, as there is no speaker in there. I do plan to obviously. If you notice there is a divider in the map pocket. I will use that and then just cut a piece of ABS plastic and wrap it in the vinyl to close it off.Seal it well and cut the hole out behind the speaker so it can play into the cavity of the door. Then some MAJOR sound deadening must be done to that tin can sounding door. That really makes a world of difference in the way a speaker sounds is the environment its mounted in. As I go I'll put some more pictures up if people are interested. I think you will all really like the sub box I plan to build.

Yes, please do, I really like what you've done/are doing. I need to revamp my audio system, as my eclipse speakers in the front are blown, and the stock head unit is on its last legs. I'll be watching closely to see what you do.

Oh, I likey what I see.
Nice work indeed.
Look forward to seeing you work through your ideas.

Totally sweet. Would love to see some detailed pic's on how you seal off the speaker....
