Finally had a chance to start on the water pump but have come into a couple of problems.

Got the fan shield off and the larger of the three belts off. Now how do I loosen the alternator (wrong it is the ??? under it ) on the right side of the engine (is it that one bolt on the back of it back by the engine block?).

How do get the smaller belt tension pulley loose on the left side of engine. Do I need to go under the truck or ???

Then what is next the pump or fan or....

Thanks, thanks, thanks in advance.

The tensioner pully must be loosened before the pully can be moved. There is a nut on both the A/C and alternator pullys, loosen this nut and then the tensioner can be run in and out. If this is not done any the tensioner shaft/bolt is run in or out, You will be spending more money and a lesson is learned. Only Toyota sells these parts, so if this is messed up expect down time cuz these parts are rarely in stock. After you figure out how this setup works you will question why other vehicle manufactures have not used this idea.

The smaller one of the left-battery side-I do not see how to get at it. From the bottom or where?

Thanks.

Under my 62 there is a skidplate/cover, I'm not sure if a 60 has this. The plate covers the crank pully and all the belts, and lower radiator hose. You have not specified what wagon you have. When this is removed the belt tensioner bolt is right there. Loosen the AC belt tensioner pully and the adjuster bolt can then be turned. Access the bolt with a long extension and socket. Remember to tighten the pullys when the belts are adjusted. Hope this helps.

PS. Call Toyota and tell them to sell 78's in the US

Photos to refer to.

The pulley jpg shows the pulley I need to loosen. From the botton I assume from the previous post.

The regulator reg jpg shows the regulator. Does it need to come off or loosen. I assume again that this bolt will loosen the unit-right or wrong?

Thanks!

i took my battery out to get to the adjusting bolt and used a rachet wrench.

Take my battery out as well. Thanks! for the markups. A picture is worth....

Now to get to the water pump-the fan comes off first?? From the pulley?

Thanks again.
