well i was changing a tie rod end today on my 62 and noticed when i was taking the tire off that there was more pressure on the front brakes than there should be. they dont want to let go it seems like, and now that i think about it, it seems like my truck has been stopping awefully fast when i let off the gas with not much coast at all. my fuel milage has also gone to s***. yall have any ideas?

X2. My experience with discount auto rebuilt calipers has been poor. The caliper pistons don't retract and the brake pads start dragging after only about 30k miles.

Pull the wheel and try spinning the rotor to see if the pads are dragging.

yes it is the pads dragging. what do i need to go about replacing to fix this

front brakes are pretty simple.
if the wheel does not spin as it should, a pad is dragging, if a pad is dragging a piston if frozen.
you can pull the caliper and try to remove the stuck piston(s), clean the bore up and replace the seals......this sounds easier then it tends to be, and often does'nt work as it should.

or

you can replace the whole caliper. going this route you should do the other side as well.

Don't mistake proper brake operation for a problem. The pads should contact the rotor all the time. BTW, have you replaced the MC recently and if so, what did you use?
