Hood wont open, cable slipped off

I am trying to get the hood open, but the cable slipped off since it was missing the retainer clip on the hood latch. Is there a way to open the hood without the cable being attached?

I accidently closed my hood after I took the cable off and forgot to reconnect it. I simply used a ratchet with an extension and a swivel, squeezed ti between the hood and the grill and removed the three bolts holding the latch on. You can do this in a couple of minutes max. I would do this before trying the other way, I think it's much easier.

I just went through this too. I used my tools and just removed the bolts. It was a tight fit and I needed a third hand to hold a light for me.

I got lucky and got a coat hanger with a hook bend into the end to grab the release bar and popped the hood.
