Does anyone know if procomp rock crawler wheels 15x8 with 3.5 backspacing will fit and clear the calipers ok, and if they will clear 4runner calipers when I get them.....

Any info would be greatly appreciated...

You will need to grind them down and sounds like spacers needed with 4runner calipers. Just remember backspacing and caliper clearance is two different issues. Changing the backspacing with the same wheel will not change the clearance of the calipers only spacers or grinding the calipers will affect the clearance.

I went with the Amercian Racing Mojave

i am running those exact wheels with BFG 33/12.5/15 MTs. the 3.5" BS is the one you need! not sure about 4R calipers but on the stock stuff, you should be ok!

I just installed the 97 series procomps and needed a 1/4" spacer to clear calipers with the way procomp punches out the holes. Mine are 15x8 with 3.75 backspacing

ditto

15x8 FauxBeads (DesertCrawlers I think) from Desert Rat. 3.75 BS and I needed 1/4" spacers to clear the calipers due to "D" hole flare from press punching

I didn't know that ProComp rock crawlers were available in 3.5 inch back spacing?

Yep. If it helps, I got my wheels from 4wheelparts. I have the procomp steelies Series 51 (the black "D" steelies). Their website doesnt list the 3.5" (and didnt either back when i ordered mine) but i called them up and they have them!

Hi,

Where did you get your 1/4 spacers? I'm looking at the Rock Cralwer 87-97-51 series of wheels all of which list 3.75 backspacing. The 87 looks to have round holes...I wonder if that makes any difference on the clearnace.

I'm thinking for now that I'll run a 15*8 wheel with 33*10.5*15 tire. Guessing that would look reasonable on a 60 with OME heavy lift. I want bigger tires that are functional...not just supper large tires that scrub.

I have set of those rims in my garage that i am going to put on the truck once i get my lift installed. I had them on with stock calipers no problem but have not tried since installing the 4runner calipers. been debating going with either 16x8 rock crawlers or some 80 series wheels.

I guess I'll know in a week or two. I ordered the RockCrawler Series 97 in 15*8 3.75 backspacing. So if they fit on the front I'll post. I'm going to go on and buy a 1/4 inch spacer for the front (1 each side) as soon as I can find one so I have all the parts in case I don't have enough clearance with just the wheels by themselves.

i ordered "3 bs from 4wps for my 85 4runner..

just found out today you can order the 97 series rock crawler in 15 6 / 5.5 with 3.5 BS. I cancelled my order for the 3.75 BS and went with the 3.5. I order the wheels on 16 Dec and as of today still had no firm date in which to receive them.

I call procomp to find out what the issue was...they said they powder coater had shut down for two weeks around christmas.

The 3.5 BS is not advertised.... You have to call your vendor and then have them work that for you. I'm told there is no price increase for this.

Here is the number 4wheel parts used: PCW97-5883S3.515X8 6-5.5" STD 3.5"BS

I'm told it will take 4 wheeks for this to happen. Hell I've waited almost a month now.... I hope to avoid the use of spacers.

I hope to avoid the use of spacers.

America's Tire test fit the rock crawlers series 51 & 97 and both hit my stock calipers. One was worse than the other but you couldn't even turn the wheel or torque the lug nuts. That is why I decided on the mojaves even though they are more money cause the added cost of good spacers offsets the cost some. The only thing I don't like about the Mojaves is that the backspacing of 3.75" is a little too much especially if you want to run 12.5's width tires. They don't make a smaller bs that I know of still. There website is not listing the 3.75" now.

Changing the backspacing does not affect the caliper clearance.

Well I'll guess I'll find out in about 4 weeks or so. Sure wish there was a 15*8 steel wheel (not wagon wheels) or a 16*8 that just bolts on. I'm just looking for a reasonable looking black steel wheel. I'm not going to be washing these things or trying to keep them looking good. The other thing is a concern to me, is the steering linkage clearance.

I want 8 inch wide wheel, steel and it needs to be reasonably tough.

I would not mind running 16inch tires in the future, since there are a number of sizes avaliable (tires )

For now I'm going to run 33*10.5*15 tires, as soon as I get the new wheels.

Elbert, did you ever get your wheels?????
