Sweet, can't wait to see what it looks like on the truck. What prep work and paint did you use?

sanded everything but the letters with about 900 grit sandpaper, and gloss black rustoleum, masked off the letters, sprayed about 2 coats on each part, ill take more pictures of the back of the parts tomorrow, and took off the masking tape while tha paint was still wet, do this to make sure that no lines apper with the letters

painted grill

I just re-painted the 60's grill. Start with plastic primer (can be found @ your auto paint supply). I ran out and had to use some plastic primer from AUTOZONE for the light bezels. Don't get to crazy about sanding. I used a razor knife to get all the flaking chrome off, and blocked all the chrome areas with 150 grit to level out areas were chrome was removed. Take some Scotch Brite to everything you can get to then wash, dry, prime, and paint. Plastic primer is key, any spray paint will stick to it. I painted all the chrome areas flat black and all other areas with a medium gray.

I your going to use glossy black you will need to do allot more sanding, gloss will show all imperfections.

Fist picture on Mud. hope I did this right....

Wow, what a change!!

Really looks good. I converted the front of my 62 to a 60. Used rustoleum flat black and it turned out great. It's been on a few months and the paint is staying in place.

My truck grille always been black, even when I bought the truck I though that all grilles were black. When the truck go to the paint shop, all chrome will become black.

That is the same prep that I did. I have had it done for about 8 months now and it all still looks really good!!

looks good man, im thinking about converting my 62 front frille pieces to the 60 style, i love the round lights for some reason, and they look better with the new style ARB front bumper

Sure like the look of those tires, CB.

I chose a matte or flat finish cause I prefer the subdued look, however it holds onto mud stains much more than the smoother gloss finishes. The mirrors and vents have gotten Rustoleum Hammered and I will redo the grill to match sometime. It's too glossy for my tastes but does not stain from mud. I had Duplicolor spray-on bedliner on their before.

i like the front bumper of the 60 series, how it dips in the front like the 62 rear bumper, if i wasnt designing my own, i'd put a front 60 on there

I'd like to do it on my 62 because the chrome is all peeling off. Mine is two-tone and the paint on the lower side is dark gray, almost black. I wonder how it will look with that dark color behind it?

I had some left over Por 15 after under coating and used it on the grille, headlight 'chromed' area-tuff, and looks good!:grinpimp:
