Dogboy has a nice interior too.... hopefully he'll chirp in.
Thanks Zach.... nice interior, dented rockers
Went the custom route: reused the OEM seats but rebuilt the fronts using SOR's replacement foam blanks for the seat bottoms, new foam where necessary in the upper portions, added seat heaters, mechanical lumbar support, and a map pocket to the seat back. Reupholstered with a Kevlar based fabric used in the outdoor industry, marine grade vinyl, and a custom stitch pattern. Added headrests to the rear bench and new OEM seat belts all around.
Headliner was in good shape but dirty and cleaned up beautifully with Woolite spray on carpet cleaner (heavy duty version) and a good vacuum.
Hand fabricated new door panels all around and made custom speakers mounts to install 6.5" speakers in all four doors. Reupholstered to match the seats. Sound deadened the entire vehicle using a variety of Cascade Audio products which made an astounding difference in interior road noise while creating a much friendlier acoustical space for the speakers.
Installed new SOR pre-formed carpet kit which is of reasonable quality. If I was to do it all over again, I'd use the factory carpet as a template and cut my own out of high quality marine carpet.
Added a Tuffy center console, dash grab bar out of a '62 series, rear entry grab handles, a CB radio in the cubby space below the radio on a custom mounting bracket, an external CB speaker on a custom bracket in the dash speaker location, roller drawers in the rear, and a vinyl rubber diamond plate tailgate panel.
I'll try to get some pics posted up somewhere, time permitting. Check out TLC's website down in Van Nuys -- those guys do some great interior work on their restos.
