This is one of those PITA stories. Last winter my carpet was soaked after every good rain. It was so bad that I kept a towel under the floor mat on the driver's side. I would exchange the towel for a dry one every day.

It rains a lot in Oregon, but when it finally let up enough that I could do some testing last spring, I determined that the leak was at the firewall, under the left front quarter panel. What a pain - and this was after going through all of the usual stuff like re-calking the rain gutter and resealing the windshield.

Anyway, fearing the coming rain this fall I dove in. I needed to replace the brake booster anyway. I spent one evening tearing the truck apart, the second fixing the leak and replacing the booster. Tonight I finished reassembly.

There was a small hole under a metal seam on the firewall. Almost looks deliberate.

The photos show the area in question after sanding and priming, and a close-up of the hole. After taking the photos I resealed every seam in the area with 3M body seam sealer.

Hope this will be useful info.

on mine there is a tube that collects the water and funnels it down, thru the lower bracket. do you still have that?

Yeah, I have the tube. I just removed it to make sanding and priming easier. The tube was replaced after I applied the body seam sealer.
