Front Hub nut size

What size are the front hub nuts on a 72 fj55? Just need to know so I can get a socket.

Stock 1972 FJ55 would have drum brakes up front and would not have a 54mm spindle nut; it would be smaller than 54mm.

How much smaller? I used a 54mm socket on my pre 1968 fj40 axles. If it was smaller it must not have been to much smaller as it worked fine, do not remember how well it fit, but it did work well. Did fj55 have different ones?

I got one of these cheap ones of ebay like this one since I will rarely use it.

Seems like a 2 1/8 socket fit on mine, but I don't remember which.

Does anyone know if the 54mm socket will be effective on either size hub nut? Does it adequately torque the smaller sized jamb nut as well?

I'm trying not to buy 2 different 30$ sockets for my 40 and my 60.

I'm leaning toward 2 1/8 or 54mm deep socket for both jobs......

It would depend on if it was a thin wall socket or not - I would be more concerned about clearance...

I just checked my 50mm Proto socket - it is 73mm OD, and the hub housing on my drum brakes 71 is 76mm. So a 54 of the same brand wouldn't work....
