Thanks to all for the crank pulley removal tips. I used the pipe-wrench method, it fell off a couple of times, but then it held and the starter easily turned it loose. I soaked it for a few days with PB Blaster first.

You guys are the best!

Yeah, sorry, the nut. Now for the pull...

Greetings,

I am just about to do battle with my crank nut. Apparently under similar circumstances. I know that this is some place else, however, I can no longer find it. Can you tell me what size socket you used? I am confident that it is not one of the normal sizes in my tool box (GRIN).

Thanx, Paul

46mm.

i just used the same trick with a 3/4" drive standard ratchet and socket. worked flawless even though i was using a socket that was a hair larger since i did'nt have a 46mm socket. what a friggen knuckle-saver that is!!!!!

I used a 1 3/4" socket, a 1/2" drive impact wrench and 130psi. Came right off.

sure that works well but only as long as you can get to it with the impact. when the engine is in the vehicle along with the radiator, that can be quite difficult without an extension and a wobbly adapter.

About 30 minutes to take the radiator and front end off of mine, but whatevah. Anyway you guys should just be happy you have a crankshaft that HAS a bold at all  ! Mine was designed "optimistically" in my humble opinion. The word "JANKY" comes to mind.
