Brat rear seats

Just thought I'd show you my Subaru Brat rear seats . I wanted a modular set-up I could remove rather quickly if needed as I don't use them that often. I used 2"x2" angle for the side supports, then welded 1"x2" rectangular tubing to them for the cross braces. Picked up a pair of the seats on craigslist, welded their frames to my cross braces. Then welded tabs for seat belt mounts.Just using lap belts for now, the grandaughters aren't into anything tough yet. I'll get harnesses and extend my cage by then. With six 3/8" bolts and fender washers it can be removed or installed in a matter of minutes, and they love the handles to hold on to. Seats-$50, steel-$20 serves my purpose, and looks cool !IMHO Alex

Oh my what a walk down memory lane seeing those seats. My first girlfriend had a brat, great little car truck truckcar, oh well. Yes those handles are great for holding on!!!!

Nearly identical to my (old) setup, except I built the brackets so they bolted directly to the factory roll bar bolt holes so they could be changed from 40 to 40. I sold mine to a friend here in town who has smaller kids...mine are grown now, and it was getting a little tight!

Very nice. I had a Brat. It was a good car. And from what I am told by a few of my passengers, those seats were quite comfortable when it was not below freezing!

Love em! Had two different Brats. Best coyotin' rig I ever had. No ground clearance, but great gas mileage and just put your foot in it, you most probably will make it! Called those things "fruit seats"! Nice adaptation.
