I have been checking out this site for several years and finally decided to become a member and say 'Hello' after I just purchased my 5th Landcruiser FJ 40. I had my first one when I was 16 and have been hooked ever since. I just sold my last project which was a 78 in which I did a frame off restoration. With this latest I have my work cut out for me. I consider myself fairly mechanical and look forward to getting input and advice from other members. With my latest I am considering doing a 350 conversion and would appreciate any input as to good/bad experiences and advice. I have attached photos of my last and current. They are self explanitory as to which is current.
Bought the new one to restore with a hard top that was included.

Welcome to MUD.
Hell - 5th!!!!!!
I could never bear to part with my "one and only"

that cruiser caught my eye as well.. glad to see it found a new home. no better a cruiser than any to put a 350 in since the engine is blown in that one (according to its description on craigs list)

i look forward to seeing how this turns out.. there are many of us in CT, more than you would know. if you need anything I'm sure someone could help out.

Check out this thread for people in CT https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=178938

where in CT are you located?

I appreciate such quick responses from you guys! I am located in Colchester. It does appear that the motor has issues. I tried to start it and it makes a loud knocking sound and shuts down. I have a new Chevy 350 and was debating on putting that in if it is the economical route to go.

Oh MAN this is so cool I get to give you the :flipoff2: The Mud welcome. OK you have to be near Rte 85. I am in Avon. There are A LOT of Cruisers here in CT. as you may know, you have had a few. Need help? Call.

Pics look great, I used to live in CT. Good luck with your new project, oh and be careful how you use the term restoration around here, you might ruffle some feathers.

Restoration would definately not = diamond plating.

Greetings...

I clicked on the thread thinking you might have been a fella I sold a 77' 40 to recently...He resides in Moodus.

I am in Middletown & happy to help if I can.

IMO, the stock 2F is the way to go...Just my opinion, guess you must have yours too based on 4 previous cruisers.

Cheers, Sam
