Ok, I have had the Lightforce 240 Blitz lights for the past 8 months and have loved them....BUT I have always wanted the HID versions.

For some reason I could not get myself to purchase them. Just too damn expensive! So the people I purchased my Lightforce Blitz 240's from came up with a COMPLETE EASY HID upgrade kit. It costs HALF the price of a single original Lightforce HID . The major advantage of going with the original new Lightforce HID is the internal ballast.

I did find a place for my ballasts without too much trouble. I will post pics later of them. I forgot to when installing,.

It can be found here:

Off-Road Lights :: Lightforce Lights :: HID - High Intensity Discharge Lights :: HID TwinPack Conversion Kit

I am not going to post a picture driven upgrade thread as someone has already done it....over here:

H.I.D. Lightforce Lights - High-intensity discharge Install

It is of the same original lights and then the EXACT upgrade kit I used.

Now for the results:

First is the end of my block WITHOUT HID's on:

WITH HID's on:

Another WITHOUT HID's on:

and WITH HID's on:

Please keep in mind that these are taken with my cell phone.

I will get some with a better camera and I will try and measure distances also.

Overall I am VERY happy with the upgrade.

Bet your neighbours have a different opinion :p

Nice upgrade, especially since the Lightforce HIDs are so bloody expensive!

Impressive...your neighbours must be pissed when you do these little tests.
I may have to get myself a set of these.

I'm did the same thing to mine the other night. Did you use the Lightforce HID kit or a generic?

I used the kit from Lightforce with the very thin black ballests (1/4" thick) and the blue bulb mounts.

I used the kit from that site. I don't believe it was a official 'lightforce' kit.

I have the Blitzs on too, but not the HID conversion. Where did you mount the ballasts?

I plan to mount mine right under the top of the arb bumper (where the lights bolt through). There is a lot of space there to drill them in nicely I think. I'm not sure yet, however. DTT mounted his inside the engine bay I believe.

Wouldn't you want them as far from the elements as possible? or, is that good enough protection? or, are the units somewhat weatherproof?

The Lightforce HID kit is completely waterproof: everything from the wires which have rubber insulators at the interconnects to the ballets and the ignighters.

Impressive. Hard to tell from them pix, but it looks great!

Nice job!

Actually, those suckas are BRIGHT!!!!!!

Even the non-HID are brighter than any others I've seen before. I was real impressed with them.

DTT - were your ballasts waterproof?

Dang, that's a HUGE difference!! I've definitely been ripped off before by 3rd party online vendors, so I always try and track down the original manufacturer's website to see if I can buy direct.
