I would love to hear more about this trip. How did Rotitash's 100 hold up? Snook, did you take your 100 too? Give us some details; I love hearing about 100's on the Rubicon! :bounce: Start a new thread and give us the scoop!

My son took HD video of Rotitash's 100 going down and up the Cadillic Hill so I will remind him to wrap up his editing (if he ever can stop playing on Age of Empire III!) and post on our NorCal web soon.

Rotitash did pretty well considering only small dent between the end of slider and rear wheel on both side (Achilles's Heel), nothing else. The 2 FJ-40 blew thier front axle knuckle at the same tough spot and was fixed by amazing Gary Mudrack on the spot. Rotitash went up at this spot without issues.

The first photo showed him coming down, the photo is not tilted, see the trees in background.

The second photo show the other 80 series going up where the knucles breakage occurred.

No I didn't took my truck becuase I don't have what Rotitash have! Skid Plates!

Cheers,

In anything from a 40 to 80 series it's not that big of a deal to swap a birfield in the field, 30 to 45 minutes with good help.

The 100 is a different kettle of fish, even so when I blew out my front diff I had it moving again in about 20 minutes with three guys wrenching on it. If I had that same crew and a spare CV axle I'm sure we could replace a broken front axle in less than an hour.

The key is to practice at home. Go ahead and service those CV's yourself. The unknown is scary, familiarity is your friend. Once you know the drill it is a lot less scary.
