This may be a crazy idea, but has anyone added seat heaters to the middle row seats? Winter is here in Colorado and my kids have gotten spoiled ridding in front from time to time with the seat heater cranked! How hard would it be to add a kit likes Slee's to the middle row?

ive got a better idea, let riding in the front seat with the heater be something special to them. They can handle the backseats without seat heaters!

Otherwise if your really hellbent on it, i doubt it would be much more difficult then the front seats, maybe the larger 60%split side might be more of a hassle. You will have to wory more about the wiring too, as there is no real provision for wires and also, when you fold the seats foward, they will be exposed. That will make protecting the wiring even more difficult if you load a bunch of crap in the 100 every so often.

I didn't think about folding the seats forward. It's not a big deal, I just thought it might be kinda cool...or I mean hot!

Seat heaters have to be the most useless feature in any vehicle, at least here.

Easy for you to say from TUSCON! In the land of 4 seasons they're awefully nice to have, though I don't know that I would go through the trouble of adding them to the 2nd row.

Not a crazy idea. Do it! You might think about a cut-off switch in the front though so it isn't left on all the time. I "think" Audi's rear seat heaters only turn on if there is weight on the seat.

I guess I can see where you're coming from. I'm in the South. But, driving 8 hours to Orlando for Thanksgiving and not having to sleep on the wood floors to fix my back was a wonderful thing. Kept it on low just about the whole trip and stayed relaxed.

How about a 12V electric car blanket ? That way if it's really cold you can use both up front and have the kids put on a hat. A warm driver is a safe driver!

Never used one but for the money I'd try one of these first.

I wonder at the value of rear air conditioning but I have a block heater thats waiting to be installed.

a warm driver is a sleepy driver. I hate being too warm while driving it puts me to sleep. In HS teachers never understood why i always went to sleep in class during the spring when the heat was cranked up so high for what used to be cold weather. Then they would open a window to let some cool air in and BAM i woke up.

That is a GREAT idea! It cheap, portable and no tearing up my seats!

There are a number of after market seat heaters available.
Here's one. not such a crazy idea.

I didn't think I would use the seat heaters in the 100 until I got in one cold morning, my wife had left the heater on and it was a good thing.

So good that I'm thinking about adding them to the FJ40 when I re-upholster the seats. It goes topless almost year round, heated seats for those early Fall morning runs to the trail head would be nice.

I also concur about the seat heaters helping to keep my back from hurting. I've taken to leaving it on low for long hauls, sure seems to help. And no it doesn't make me sleepy, just keep outside air coming in and set the thermostat lower.

I thought Slee added them to the back of the expedition Lexus. I think it would be sweet if you also used 3 factory switches on the rear of the center console above the cup holder. This is for vehicles without rear heater controls or your newer models with radio controls there.

nope. rear heat was available on the 98 and 99 LC. In 99 the rear climate control over the left rear seat became an option. In 00 it was standard on the LC. I know this because I had a 99 with rear heat and a 99 without a sunroof before I got my 00.

Yes. this has been my weekend project, searching now to see if it's been done but guess not? I should have it buttoned up in a couple hours.. power is from an aux. fuse block off my 2nd battery, with a relay so they're only on with Accessory on, tapped the center console cig lighter for that feed. The relay's under the passenger seat. I didn't get rear heat controls so the switches are in that panel above the sliding cup holder..
