It does look great, problem is that the buy-it now price is 49K.

Getting close to the cost of a 200, which is 10 years newer.

Doesn't mean that's what it'll sell for. Also, when you figure in the cost of that swap, you'll be close.

And, a 200 isn't diesel.

100 on a Duramax chassis. Is still 4WD?

I would say absolutely, he is hard core off roader. I can't see him doing a conversion that would eliminate the 4wd, especially given that truck has a rear mounted winch.

im pretty sure the rear mounted winch was used primarily for pulling things onto the trailer when he towed, he used this truck mainly for towing. take a look at the intercooler not much protection for a wheeling truck

i think realy what you see there is not an LX with a duramax, you see a duramx pickup with an LX body and interior... there is nothing else toyota about that, don't get me wrong - I'd love to have a diesel if it didn't sacrafice ride, durability or longevity...

I wonder how the Duramax compares to the 1HD-FTE. The Toyota engine exists in some pretty powerful iterations for boats. These are surely easier to install in a LX.
Still a damn nice truck though :D

easy to install if you had the parts easily. a duramax doner is easier then trying to source the toyota engine....plus engine maintenance and parts are easily sourced from a chevy dealership instead of attempting to get a replacement from aus/mid-east

It almost looks like it is the 6 wheeler he built last year but went back to 4x4. As far as comparing the 6.6 Turbo Duramax to the 4.2 TD... power wise, no comparison.

4.2 ~201hp/317 lbs-ft (1400-3200 rpm)
6.6 300hp/520 lbs-ft (1,800 rpm)

The later ('06-'07) 6.6 makes 360hp/650 lbs-ft @ 1,600 rpm

Not really, the Duramax pickups don't have airbags with a linked suspension. It is a custom rig. Not a Duramax really, not an LX really. Sort of a hybrid. I think it is pretty neat. I mean some of this stuff is like art. He created something new. Putting together a vehicle from two sources takes a lot of talent, time, and energy. It isn't my ideal vision of a vehicle, but it is pretty darn cool if you ask me.

Haha 1Loud, this is what we've been waiting for. Look closely at the taillights. Its a 98-02 model with LED Taillamps. Could this be a new opening for a locked up dream?

psssst....look at it closely and tell me what you see, or dont see. Do you not see body molding on it? oh i know why you dont, its a landcruiser tailgate, which has always had the wider based inner taillights. 07 LED LC tailights fit on a 98-02 LC, but not the same for a LX. Podvin is crazy with his creations, you cant expect a LX to have only LX parts, hes nuts!
