I have a BJ70 in my shop and the customer has decided not to rebuild it.
It is a factory diesel imported from Canada. It has a clear Ohio title. It is located in Ohio 43110
This truck will require Brake work, clutch work and a good deal of cleaning and descaling. It is very rare and would be worth the work.
The asking price is $6000.

Below it the description from the owner.

It is a 1985 LHD Land Cruiser BJ70 (70 series) imported from Canada. It is a 12 Volt electrical system. Only 1985 came with 12V. 1986 and on came 24V.

It comes with the 3B 3.4L Diesel Engine (Non-turbo).Transmission is a 5-spd H55F It has a split Transfercase . It is a Left Hand Drive (LHD) with power steering. It comes factory with dual battery trays. It has approx 323,000 Kms (202,000 miles). The VIN number you can get it of the plate. It is Canadian, so no Air Conditioning (A/C).

The floor of the 70 might need some sections to be repaired. Surprinsingly, the whole exterior is in really decent shape. All the wheel wells are clean and are there. The hood is rusted as well as the firewall.

There is surface rust on a lot of parts but I have been under with a hammer and only noted floor panels needing repair.

The truck starts everytime and iddles smooth. Regarding the power steering, I added fluid and it works fine, however, the steering box leaks all the oil you add fairly quickly. Toyota sells the resealing kit for the box and it is somewhat easy to fix.

The rear driver side leaf spring is broken on the main leaf (not on frame mount). The interior needs cleaning but its in good condition. Hidraulic systems will need to be checked.

Dropping to bottom dollar $4500

Your PM box is full... I got your PM..

Thanks... I just left you a voice mail too... do you know Jim Chenoweth (TLC Performance) down in Lancaster? He could probably collect it up for me and do the necessary repairs...

Eyewitness account

I stopped to look at this truck today. It is as the seller & Kina (previous owner) described:
Frame is very scaly, thin in spots, but not actually rotted all the way through yet. The 3B has not done a good job of slinging oil all over the underside of the truck, so there was no ongoing rustproofing program. There are obscenely long rear shackles underneath, which contributed to the death of one already tired leaf spring. Even with the tall shackles, the truck is low, so the springs are really shot. Didn't look closely at the front suspension & steering...

The engine must be pretty healthy, as it is not blowing oil out every seal like a hi-miles diesel.

Rear doors are hard to open, rusty. Floors are very rusty and through in many places. The wheelwells are shot where they meet the body, and have been slathered with layers of tiger hair and rustproofing to cover. Rear fenders have bondo covering rust-through also. Driver's seat is pretty worn, but other interior trim is in fair to good condition. Aftermarket radio.

If somebody wanted to restore this truck to safe driver, it would need a lot of rust repair and mechanical work. I consider this to be a good drivetrain donor for a clean, hi-miles texas FJ60, but it is a little overpriced for that.

Ad from a few weeks ago.

Chris, I didn't know I was gonna stop. I drive Rt33 all the time, and just happened to see the BJ70 sitting out back, and did not have a pressing engagement (rare) so I ducked in to have a quick look. The guys in the AC shop said I'd just missed you.

Will try to stop by sometime when you're in the shop.
