Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I order?

Simple, give us a call @ Cruiser Outfitters. 801-563-1277. Our parts specialists can you all taken care of!

What about the labor to install the high range/low range gears, re-shimming,re-sealing, etc?
We are offering that complimentary for the time being, a savings of up to $500.

Will this fit other Cruisers? Will it fit my 80 Series?
This case can be fitted in place of any HF2A and HF2AV t-case found in all 1990-2007 8x, IFS 100 and LX450/LX470 Land Cruisers. 1993-1997 FZJ80 and LX450 models will require a longer rear driveshaft as these cases do not have the viscous coupler. You can use the rear shaft from an FJ80 or have your original shaft lengthened. Should you want to keep your viscous coupler and original driveshaft, we can offer the parts individually or pre-build a used core case with the same parts.

Is the CDL actuator included?
That is up to you. We stock them for the 8x/LX450 and 100/LX470 and can absolutely ship installed. Pricing varies between models, email for more information.

Is this better than gearing axles?
It's different. The 10% underdrive is the exact same end ratio as going from a factory 4.10 (08/2002-2007 UZJ100/LX470) to 4.56 axle gearing or very similar to taking a 4.30 (01/1998-07/2002 UZJ100/LX470) to 4.88 axle gearing. While axle gearing requires substantial tear-down and specialized tools to setup and build differentials, t-case options can be swapped in the driveway and our complete built t-case offerings can make the job a 3-4 hour event, start to finish. (See Gear Ratio Chart Below)

Why would I re-gear my t-case rather than axles?
Fantastic question. If your axles need to be rebuild, you're planning to add lockers or your t-case was recently rebuilt, re-gearing your axles may be a better option and we stock all those parts and/or complete build differentials too. However, you can't get anywhere near the overall low range crawl ratio out of axle gears alone and the 3.1:1 gears we offer will yield a much better low range ratio. (See Gear Ratio Chart Below)

My t-case is in great shape, why would I buy a new one?
Don't! We can set you up with all the high range, low range, part-time and rebuild parts to service your existing case. This setup is intended for the user that doesn't have the time or comfort level to overhaul a t-case. The HF2A/HF2AV cases take special pullers and quite detailed shim and clip measuring and replacement when overhauling. Some simply want an easier solution and this is the best option for simplicity.

How hard is a complete case to install?
Very straightforward. The case 'divorces' from the transmission very cleanly.
- Unbolt drive-lines (8 nuts), move drive-lines to the side or fully remove from vehicle (by removing at the pinion side as well)
- Disconnect switch/control plugs on old t-case (4 plugs total, 3 switches and 1 CDL actuator)
- Disconnect vent tube from CDL Actuator
- Disconnect High-Low Shift Linkage from T-Case (1 nut)
- Remove the Speedometer Driven Unit (1 bolt)
- Support the transfer case with a jack
- Remove bolts mating the t-case and transmission, slide t-case back and lower from vehicle
- Swap any parts necessary to new t-case assembly
- Using jack, lift and mate new t-case assembly to the transmission.
- Replace and torque mating bolts
- Re-connect (4) plugs, (1) vent tube and High-Low Shift Linkage
- Replace Speedometer Driven Unit (new avail @ Cruiser Outfitters)
- Re-Install and torque drive-lines
- ADD GEAR LUBE TO NEW UNIT
- Test High-Low and CDL function
- Enjoy!

How does the complete t-case ship?
Ground UPS so easily ships to most US locations in just a few days. Please call or email to discuss shipping options.

Do you offer install assistance or tech support?
Absolutely. Our tech engineers can assist with any questions you may have or install issues that may arise. In the SLC area? We would be happy to take care of the install for you.

Have additional questions?

Please email our parts team, info@cruiseroutfitters.com

Any core exchange options?

We will buy back cores based on current need. I've been buying up complete HF2A/HF2AV cases for a minute so value will reflect out inventory :D

I paid WAYYYY more to have my case dropped, then fitted with low-range and hi-range gears from Kurt and the rebuild with parts and labor ... I wish so bad this was available when I did my case gears ... sad face. What an epic deal this is ... I'm incredibly jealous. I was into my T Case 4,400 just in parts alone and another couple grand in labor to do the complete rebuild. But I am very happy with the gears regardless, just wish I would have waited until this was available, missed by a few months.

You made my day! Thank you Jason for helping me out 🤙💯

Does this come with the viscous coupler?

Does this come with the viscous coupler?

These are HF2A cases, thus they do not have the viscous coupler

They can be fitted in the 93-97 80/450, you just need to run a longer rear driveshaft or have your current shaft modified.

Will be calling today to discuss further

Did the guys get you all the answers you need? We had one of our parts specialists team out sick today so it was a little hectic.

PM sent

Thanks for the prompt response to my email. Looking forward to do my TCase underdrive soon for my 06 which is just initially to resolve the leak in the output shaft. Anyone who happen to have done this in the past and can share a guide/video to the underdrive is very much appreciated. Mahalo.

The process for installing the under-drive is identical to a standard case overhaul with the exception of using the new parts we supply. The FSM (Factory Service Manual) will be your best resource. We are working on step-by-step instructions.

We still offer the new TC36130 loaded with your choice of stock or reduction high range and/or low range gears. But we also build plenty of used HF2A/HF2AV cases too and keep vapor honed cores ready to build. This case was ordered and ready for pickup the next day
