i'm torn in betwwen two types of sliders i want to do for my 60 so i wanted all of your opinions, i'm in between the ones that are mounted to the frame and the ones that replace the rocker panel(that you would cut out) but i want to know if the ones that go insied of the cut rocker panel are strong enough for rock banging? thanx in advance

I like the bolt on sliders that provide a step up into the truck. 2badfjs made a set for me, and they went when I sold my 60. Too bad.

The type that require cutting work fine, but will lower the resale value of the truck, IMHO.

The "cut the rocker out" sliders are plenty strong for rock bashing. Several friends have done this with no issues. To answer the "why" question: Cutting the rockers off gives the most clearance under the rockers. Means you can clear bigger rocks with a given lift.

I have some really beat up rockers, and would like to put on sliders I wouldn't mind cutting out the beat up rockers. Who makes a rocker for this purpose (name & cost would be appreciated)

I could weld up a set but for the right price I would rather just buy them.

Be careful welding to the frame & keep your beads parallel to it. If you weld across it could significantly weaken the spot & make it break there.

Better to have strong mounts & bolt them. 2Bad's are excellent.

sliders

hey,

i cut my rockers out, and welded in SQ tube for sliders. bad idea.

ended up crushing the floor, had door problems.. blah blah.

if your rockers are crappy, cut, repair, whatever. it will give you a little more clearance. i would not weld sliders into the body again.

bolt on is :princess: weld to the frame, then you're good to go. think about the weight of a 60, then put a winch, beer, lift, beer, tires, beer, spares, beer and recovery gear... it adds up quick.

don't worry about welding any old way to the frame, you could use a small plate welded to the frame to spread the load of the sliders. cruiser frame steel is nothing special.

I wouldn't weld silders to the body. But the slider can sit where the rocker used to be, and mounted to the frame. That would give it a ton of strenght and good clearence.
