I've been reading the posts on this website for quite some time now to research for my purchase of an FJ80.

I found a 1994 FJ80 with 120K miles for $6000 that I'm interested in. The miles are all freeway and its for sale by the original owner.

My concern is in something he told me this morning as we spoke over the phone. He mentioned that he stopped driving this truck in 2000 when he bought a new mercedes. I asked him how often he started the vehicle. He said once a month or so he drove it around the block. I asked him how often he changed the fluids - such as oil... He hasn't since 2000.

I was thinking to take it into a shop to have it looked over, I figured I'd get the oil changed, and get their opinion. Is there any tests that I should have run on it to see if the engine is damaged?

Does it have locker?

Rubber seals will get hard, and might leak oil. Check for any leaks, and do compression test.

I asked him about the lockers and he was confused by it. I'll check when I go to look at it.

I bought my pickup in 2002, it hard hardly been driven out of the garage for almost 5 years. It did get started about once a month though. Every single seal leaked, all the brake parts were corroded inside. Just be prepared for the same thing.
