The Bradshaw area is one of our great recreation areas, old, unique places like Bumblebee, Cleator, etc are disappearing fast. I don't see anything good happening from relocating a freeway through Black Canyon? Please use the link on this site to send you comments to ADOT.

Email sent, here's my .02

I am deeply saddened by the ADOT proposals to expand I-17 through Black Canyon and Bumble Bee. I have been a resident of Arizona since 1969 and have spent considerable time exploring the Bradshaw Mountain area, most recently, over the Thanksgiving holiday. It is a unique and largely unspoiled region that is rich in natural resources and archeological sites from Arizona's mining history.
In my opinion, option D is the only option that will not create irreparable damage the environment and our natural resources. I believe another option that should be considered is an East-West connection to highway 87 and possibly another south of Black Canyon City over to highway 60. This would give north-south travelers an alternate route should I-17 become obstructed.

Far to many of our natural areas have already been destroyed in the interest of development and restoration projects. Bumble Bee, Black Canyon and the Bradshaw Mountains are state treasures and I can not and will not support any projects that will damage or alter this area.

Sent my message. As much as I hate driving on that dirt road to and from Bumble Bee, particularly in near-white-out conditions created by dust of other vehicles and a couple of slow-moving ATVs thrown in for good measure, blazing a freeway + infrastructure in there would destroy the area.

I would expect that all the forces that want to eliminate us wheelers from a few miles of trails just a little ways south of Bumble Bee in Table Mesa, all those that want to close all the TM trails, are out in force to stop ADOT. Is that the case?

I sent an email very similar to Robs, and received the following response:

Thank you for your interest in the I-17 corridor. There are no current
plans or funding to re-route or otherwise alter I-17. There are,
however, a number of studies underway, including environmental studies
and public involvement, to identify areas that need improvement and
examine alternatives to accomplish those improvements. We welcome your
participation in those studies. With your permission, we will add you
to the contact lists for the studies. Please let me know and I will see
that you are added.
