You found a caddy to take your truck in?

LOL! :flipoff2:

I am now and always have been my own caddy. I walk and carry my own clubs and am an avowed hater of golf carts! hehehe

Boy - talk about a hijacked thread.

here in Illinois it is 78 bucks for the state and 75 bucks for the City of chicago.

Wow my cruiser must be new if I had to just pay $209!!! :flipoff2: Hopefully will be in the 100 range in another two years.

Don't you just love the Windy City. Remnants of Daley, father and son are probably still alive and kicking. hehehe I lived out in Mt. Prospect and Wheeling for a few years and never had to pay the Chicago part. Back in the 70-80's, Illinois used to base the licence fee on the number of cylinders. Do they still do that? Of course a v-8 was all of $20 bucks or so back when glaciers inhabited the Great Plaines states.

I just paid mine as well, but only $173. Surprised that there is so much in-state variation. Does L.A. & other So Cal counties have a surcharge, or somethin' ?

Where are our Oregonians? When I was up there, it was $15 per vehicle per year, whatever year and model...

Mine is due in august and will be a whopping $38. God I love washington no safety no smog just send us your 38. and we will send you the stickers.

Chicago sure does have some BS taxes laying about. A few years back I rented a car 1 way to drive to Michigan due to cancellation of a flight for weather. I think it cost me about $70 for the car rental. When I turned it in in Michigan, I was billed $98 bucks and told the guy something was wrong with the rate as my rental agreement said $70. He apologetically told me there was a $28 Chicago tax for one way rentals into other states. That's a whopping tax - something like 40%. Really pissed me off.

Not sure but I do know there are big differences. My friend w/ same cruiser exactly who bought it 1-2 yrs before I did just paid only $160. Plus, he only lives about 3-5 miles max away from me. So don't know why the difference in price but hope for mine to go down ASAP.

:o

dont know how other states do it, but in wyoming theres a county fee and a state fee
on my 40 its $15 for each of them.

they only go back ten years for vehicle value here, so whatever it was worth at ten years old is what you pay on.

had an 85 impala when i moved out here from minnesota. cost 35 or so in minnesota to register. cost 65 here.

Sliding scale in AZ from original sale value: $190 finally this year on the 1996 FZJ80. I think Jefferson County, CO was more expensive IIRC.

Musn't slide THAT much as I've got a 1996 beater Probe that's worth about $800 and I still had to pay $120. The small irony is that these newer cars pollute LESS than older ones and we're taxed more. What did Rand say in Atlas Shrugged something like ``from those who have to those who need?''

CA is based on the value reported to DMV. If you or your friend have different reported values, your license plate fees will be different. Can't manipulate if purchased new, but in a private third party sale you can report whatever you want. No county fees or surcharges that I'm aware of at all.
