I have nothing going on theis weekend. If you need some help I can come over. Also, TJK was looking to get involved in relief efforts. maybe we could convoy over.

If you guys are all set personally maybe we could hook up and volunteer with a local Jackson group. Let me know.

I think I might be one of the few with access to power and internet. Most of us here in the Jackson area just received minor damage. I will be helping out with releif efforts organized thru my church's parish. If yall would like to join me with that it would be great. I have plenty of room and a place to shower. David, call me if you decide to come. Thanks for everyones concerns. Jes

Jackson It is

I'm in. Will bring Chainsaw. Jes, I will call you to let you know when to expect me.

Steve

I'm in, will also bring a chainsaw but am still a bit hobbled from spine surgery. I think Pete's in too.

Jes, hit me offline (todd@larkbooks.com) with a phone number and directions.

Hope to be there late Friday night, stay through Monday morning.

Steve, see you there.

TJK

I am in Convoy from ATL? Steve lets make a plan.

Todd meet up here and take 1 ride? I dont need to return until Mon some time.

Lets consider a tool list. I have a small gennie and lots of cutting and bashing crap.

Jes, any need for a beater truck to get us back into torn up areas? The 62 is open for it.

I'm picking Pete up in Birmingham at about noon central so we should be there mid-afternoon on Friday. We'll have two chain saws, tow straps, implements of destruction/removal, etc.. I'll bring the 80, figure the more winches/trucks with lockers the better.

David

I will be leaving Thursday afternoon. I am off on Friday but have to work on Monday so I guess I should drive separately. I believe Todd and Pete are meeting in Birmingham on Friday around lunch. Maybe you can convoy from Birmingham.

Steve

Best I can do is leave late afternoon Fri get in Fri night around 10pm or so.

What's gas going for in Atlanta today? Edging toward $3.50/gallon here. I'm looking at over $400 in gas. Worth it, you bet. Have it, not really.

TJK

As of right now we can't get to the hard hit areas. I will spend all of tomorrow on the phone trying to get access. It sounds like the perfect time to put our trucks and other implements of distruction to use but we are in a holding pattern. My bro-in-law will be coming this weekend from ATL so yall will need to hook-up. Greg and I are planning on making a cannonball run to some large city far away and buying every generator that is to be had. I thank everyone for there efforts and concerns but it's a long way to drive to sleep without A/C and then stand around with your thumbs up your ass. We may be on for this weekend, but wait on my word before you bust a move. THanks, Jes

We are ready to come. GIve me a call I lost your number.

How is the fuel situation? I can bring 35 extra gallons if needed; I also have a small gennie.

To be honest, I got nothing to do this weekend except hang out with my mom and my Norcold will keep the beer cold.

Hey yawl, just go power today, have some folks staying with us as refugees-we still can make room for anyone needing a room or AC!

ANY COTTONLAND CRUISERS READING I HAVE AC & ELEC.

Jes and all, just a word of encouragement from the rest of the cruiser community. About all we can do from here is cash donations to Red Cross and give a pint.

From the Olde North State Cruisers:

We have little to no fuel here. Not a big deal, certainly as viewed in context, but fuel is what makes my truck go down the road. Photo in the morning paper, gas at $4.19/gallon. I drove from Biltmore Forest (south Asheville) to my home in north Asheville last night, all on the surface streets, what few gas stations that were open and pumping gas had lines backing traffic up. Most stations had bags over their pump handles. The delivery lines into NC/SC/MS/AL are apparently the same, looking to be a week to get a new supply. What to do...? Like I said though, small potatos in comparison.

Atlanta had a gas panic yesterday but it cooled down today. I dont think there is really that much of a shortage as much as the fear of shortage. If you cna make it into GA I dont see any issue with getting gas just expect to pay for it!

Steve and I chatting but I'll repost here.

Looking doubtful for me. I just paid $3.79/gallon to fill my tank. It was $4.16 up the street. Mandatory gas rationing here. The pump turns off after 10 gallons. Of course you can run your credit card again and get 10 more (which I did). NC/SC/AL/MS are all on the same fuel delivery pipeline system, according to NPR. No more fuel delivered here for a week or so. NC/AL/MS is my route, of course. Paper says (and Merrimon Ave bears witness to this) half of the gas stations here are already closed.

Sounds like coming at a later date might be a better idea anyway.
