so I recently bought an 04 lx with 102k on it and after browsing through service records the old owner didn't replace timing belt at 90kinterval.
What is the max people have run on the original belt before they replaced it. I want to change it out ASAP but have to save up some more money. Seeing how it is a costly replacement. And if anyone in the Las Vegas area knows of a decent LC mech I would appreciate that as well
Thanks

I bought my 98' LX with 131k and did not change the timing belt until just before 140k. When they pulled it it was pretty cracked and worn. In a way it's playing with fire but there are a lot of high mileage LC / LX's still running on their OE timing belt. Good luck and if you have it done at a shop expect that +/- $1300 to be the range quoted for a full timing belt service e.g. Water pump, seals, tensioner and belt.

PS. A few months after I did my TB my alternator failed so it might be a good idea to really give it a once over while it's already partially torn down.

Cool thanks for the info

In our Sequoia I changed at 140k and the belt looked in really good shape, if and when you get it done, ask for the belt so you can see for yourself.

These trucks are easy on timing belts. I had mine done at 100K miles and it looked new. I bought the Aisin kit from amazon and my dealer installed it. Install labor was something like $500 and the kit $200 so very reasonable in my book.

press on and save up your money... after that start saving and keep a bucket of $500 to the side for maintenance. Then if anything else comes up you will be at least 1/2 covered.

Park your rig immediately, it will explode at any time.

Wait, isn't that what I'm supposed to say? There's like a million threads on this topic here already. They all say you're gonna die at 90,001...

Did my 2001 tundra last fall. 90k belt looked new. I also bought aisin kit off amazon. So much cheaper than the aisin stuff with "toyota" stamped in :)

I will do my 100 soon.

I am a prime whore.. it's at my door in two day.

WorKS for me.

I do it for the shipping. In Chicago most items over $35 qualify for free prime same day delivery if ordered before noon
