I was in the market for a cheap beater car and came across an add for a 92 TLC for $5000. I had the owner (same guy since 93) send me pics of the car. I was suprised to see that the truck only had 109k miles on it and was all in one piece. Another great suprise was records back to the original owner including a recent tune up, brakes all around with new rotors and drums, and new 31 X 10.5 tires. The only problems with the car were a minor fender bender to the right rear (upper/lower hatch and bumper cover) which has already been fixed for $650 and some rust around the roof rack and top of the windshield which will be fixed shortly. I picked the truck up for $4000 to account for the repairs. The guy even took it in for an oil change the day before I picked it up and renewed the registration for a year.

So far I am impressed with the truck. Yes it is dog slow and feels like a truck compaired to my 2004 4Runner I just sold. But it feels solid and well built. IF I want plush and semi quick I hop in my wifes 07 Sequoia Limited we picked up last weekend.

I do have one question. What is the biggest tire I can mount on the stock rims without lifting the truck?

Thanks

Sounds like you found yourself one he11 of a beater!!! Welcome :flipoff2:

Welcome! :flipoff2:

Congratulations and welcome.
What color is your rig? Better yet, do you have pics?

33"s will fit with the stock suspension. What are your plans for this vehicle?

Regards

Alvaro

I bought this to get me to and from work which is only 2 miles away until next spring. I am getting a promotion next April and made a deal with the wife to drive a "beater" until then and she will let me get anything I want.

To be honest I may fix the few minor problems and hold on to this for a while.

Here is a pic before I cleaned it up.

Thanks for the info on 33's. I assume that I need to stay 10.5 width to fit on a stock tim. Also will a 33 fit as a spare?

I would really like to find someone selling a nice solid rear bumper with spare tire carrier.

Black,

Looks like a great bargain, and a good color. Throw in the well known history, low mileage and good maintenance, I would call that a honey of a deal. Great find!

Congratulations!

Congrats and nice find. :flipoff2:

black2kmax- How wide are your wheels? (yours are different from what are on '93 and later) If your wheels are 8" wide your can run 12.5 wide tires.

And welcome :flipoff2:

welcome aboard :flipoff2:

I still have the stock 92 alloy wheels. I am sure the width is stamped on the side somewhere. Right now the truck is covered in a fresh coat of mud so I will check after I ride by the carwash.

The stock wheel width is 8 inches, and '92's are 15" diameter. Good idea on the carwash, because WEH8MUD around here.:D

Welcome.:flipoff2:

Man, my middle fingers are getting chapped...:flipoff2:

Hey black2kmax, where are you in Monterey?

I am sitting in Laguna Seca biz park right now at the office.
