Pat,
If I'm really what you dream about after a night of gin and tonics, you best sell that Forerunner and trailer and use the money for the best shrink you can find. You gonna need it. :flipoff2:

Wife's at work all day so I'm at home playing Mr Mom (but with only 2 kids) so had plans to spend the day in garage. I haven't even left the basement yet. People must know I had plans to play around today. Phone's been ringing all morning.

I'm to the point I'm sick of thinking about options on this thing and just want it done. No idea how I'm going to finish up the back end yet though. I still have the door assy/mechanism from the other topper that I thought would be cool to use somehow. Love all the handles/latches/locking mechanisms. Maybe just build a wood frame on the back that fits the modified "old" door?

I'll post more pics when I clean up a little out there and can show you what I'm thinking.

Well for starters, quit burning images in my brain of you laying drunk on a couch somewhere, with peanut butter stains all over your sweatpants, drooling over pics of me and my trailer. That really wrecks all my concentration.

:flipoff2:

made a little progress but still a long ways to go. Nice to kind of visualize how it will finally look when it's done. Plywood is just temporarily screwed on for now.

Need to find a way to make access doors for the compartments. Any ideas? I like the thought of just buying some RV access doors in the right size so i can just cut out the plywood to the right dimensions and screw the doors/frames right to it. But they cost way too much as far as i can see.

I dont want to be a spoiled sport but if you are using this for the roads in the Dakotas you are OK, however these shells are not made to take a lot of off camber twisting and turning, you may want to check the corners and edges after a run to assure the are still holding, These shell manufacturers are chincy when it comes to fastening together all the alum and F/glass parts.

Thanks Rubicon. No worries. This thing will probably never see much more than the highway. I kind of turned away from making this one a real offroader. It's kind of morphed into a bmx/camping trailer for setting up at races and have a few amenities.

The Yakima mounts were (not surprisingly) a bad idea. I wouldn't trust the tent up there mounted like it is for now. I'm going to make a framework/rack thing that bolts right to the 2x4's now and beef it up. That'll also allow the tent to be slid forward or back depending on how much junk is in there. not much tongue weight right now with nothing in the front box section.

With the Toploader mounts it also sits an extra 8" up in the air too which i don't like. The rack will hug the roofline a lot closer. Will add some new pics later to show just how rotten i am at working with wood. :)

This an an interesting looking build. good show, would like to see any additional photos of the interior if there are any Does the passenger side panel fold out and up??

"Interesting" is one way to put it. :) It's what happens when you look at too many cool trailer set ups here on MUD, then try to make what you have laying around in the garage into something similar.

The back end is basically just a 52"x72" enclosed trailer to hold the bikes and junk.

The front section is all framed out to have doors and drawer slides coming out each side. I just didn't have time to cut the holes and make doors for it yet. Cooler/fridge/stove/sink and 2 36" drawers will come out passenger side. Propane tank/battery/Eccotemp shower out the drivers side. ARB awning off passenger side. Tent will now open up off the drives side for now.

"Morphodite" is the best term I could think of for it. :hillbilly:

Forgot to mention that this was just an old utility trailer I built about 10 years ago and now built all the wood parts on top of it to incorporate that stupid fiberglass tonneau cover i got cheap.

Couple interior shots of the rear end. atv just barely fits. Purely by luck. :)

Horizon Trailer should be safe from my future market dominance. :hillbilly:

I think if you snap all the little crumbsnatchers in half...you'll be able to fit the gear AND all the kids in there...

of course you and mom will be up on top making more...lol

Lookin goood..

no need to snap them in half. It's actually still a tilt trailer so I could just open the rear doors and stuff them all in and slam the doors shut.

Or even better, the fiberglass roof can still flip up with the little hydraulic struts. i could fill it up from the top with kids and then shut the lid.

Or better yet, just leave all the little stinkers at home and go by myself. no we're talkin.
