This 2H seems to be off its nut!!

This is the culmination of a 3.5yr build of an HJ60. It's an amalgamation of about 5 different vehicles. The engine is from a rusted out beachside 60 series that I think had about 250,000klms on it. No turbo fitted, but It genuinely feels like its turboed, responsive, good acceleration. I am in fact quite taken aback at how well it drives. 65klms on it so far since I put it back on the road.

I am pretty sure its a factory unopened 2H. I have had the injectors rebuilt, I set the valve clearances and rebuilt the cooling system. Other than that I havent really done much to it. It has quite a minimal exhaust with extractors on it, its noisy under wide open throttle - sounds angry - its probably noisier than it should be. I really dont know what contributed to the power the most, maybe the fresh injectors, small exhaust and headers and lack of rear fitout (ie lower kerb weight) I guess it all adds up. I'll try and quantify the performance at some point, but I know I wont need a calendar to measure the 0-100kph time.

Did I read somewhere that this had a Noordeman cam in it?

No noordeman cam in it.. almost certainly its factory unopened.

The Noordeman cam is just a cheap chinese cam, nothing special.

Roger that, must have been another build I was thinking of that was using one of Noordeman's 'performance' grinds that allegedly offer a 30% power increase. (very very sceptical 😅)

I've seen a few 2H that seem 'crisper' than others with no particular reason evident.

The vehicle held 4th at 80kph coming up a hill that kills every other 2H I have driven up it (Southern Expressway, Adelaide).. I am sure it would have held 90 had there not been traffic in the way. Usually I am down to 60kph in 3rd even with a runup to 100kph..Fully loaded in my HJ47 even slower, sometimes below 50kph.

This is remarkable.. I'll try for 100kph up it when the traffic is right..

What's the final drive ratio of your HJ60, 3.70 (like in Europe) or 4.11 (what one expects in OZ)?

Does anyone know the slope accurately? You can calculate power from slope, speed and vehicle weight.

I've tried to find an exact figure for a while and haven't been able to find anything that seems accurate.

Interesting. Another test I would like to hear you do is fill up fuel, zero odo, drive at 90kmh for 100km at 2-2100 rpm and then fill up again. How many liters?.
For sure, I have felt the difference when an engine is crisp and tight, tuned and happy. Hills are a great test.

Is the 60 lighter than the 40 and 70? Wider and not as tall, I know. The chassis itself is not heavy for the 75, but body has some weight. I guess the 60 is ever so slightly, (haha) more aerodynamic. May end up requiring a whale tail for all the burning rubber and fishing out! :D

Must be very satisfying, like eating chocolate first time or something else, can't wait to do it again.

Interesting. I've just got a set of Pacemaker Extractors out of Aussie and will fit them up. My 2H has 280,000ks unopened. Injector refresh and valve clearances would be next on the list after that. Hope after this I get similar results to you.
