It's a great show and I dig Ian and Jessi as hosts. Since Stacy David left..they should give Xtreme his Half an Hour cause Trucks has gone to s*** since he left.

The spare on the roof was retarded. That huge tire up there could kill someone if they couldn't physically handle it on the ground - then there'd be no way they could get it off the roof.

They could have done a better job on their exo-cage. Put more thought into it. I didn't like the 6 inch lift either.

In all, I'd rather have seen a real world build up like most of the people here do. I don't want 39" boggers or anything like that. I'm an average joe who wants to cruise the trails in 33's, a mild lift etc.

The ARB thing was interesting. I don't recall you having to replace anything on the stock differential to put the ARB in there (rear) and yet they are replacing the entire 3rd member section of the diff?

I know alot of you didn't like the EXO, but it did work really well and considering that fact that the show has never done an EXO on any project it seemed like a good fit.

The main reason the cage was removable was to have it coated before it went back on, and trust me it didn't flex when up against the trees, I hammered it pretty hard a bunch of times and it held up fine.

The spare on the roof I think is pretty cool. it really is not that hard to lift up and down.

The beadlocks were balanced on a regular balancing machine. Like all the tire packages from Pro Comp they arrived installed and balanced.

The ARB into the rear of the FJ needs a new housing if you are installing it into a truck with a factory E-locker. If you are installing it into a non elocked truck it will fit in no problem.

Hope that answers all you questions, let me know if you need to know anything else.

Ian are we ever gonna see what you guys ended up with on that shortened fj60?
Any chance they're planning on extending the length of the show?

Ian, glad you can get the tire up and down.
I am just a little to weak at my age to be hefting something like that up and down.
Heck, taking it off the back door might even be a chore for me ;)

Hope to see more of the FJ Cruiser in the future.

Hey Guys,

The FJ60 wagon will be finished in the future I am just not sure when it will be. That wagon is Jessi's personal truck and she is off for a while until she feels better.

As for extending the show that is not very likely, we have talked about it with the execs, but it does not look like it will ever happen.

also thought the cage was a bit thin, good to know it held up fine.

Enjoying the show, Ian, good to have you here too. Always impressed by how easy you make the diff work look...

(Of course, if you want to read about *real* Landcruisers, you should drop by the 80 forum...!! :D )

The exo was mostly 1.5" .120 wall, I thought about using 1.625 but the steel rack a little low but the 1.5" was full. I wish I had given myself a little more room around the passenger brake light the exo tweaked a little once I had it off and fully welded.

Thanks for the props in Diff work, I have been re-building drivelines and tranny's for about 16yrs.

I just picked up two rockwells for a project, and the mil spec complete overhaul manual......my version of PORN

I thought I understood that the rig came with rear elocker already and that they put ARBs both rear and front to make it "simpler" or something like that. Didn't get that part. No biggie to have one of each, I would think.

I can see that it is hard to pack much tech info in 15 mins or so. In fact, I'm always wondering how much time must be spent behind the scenes just for these 15 mins...

Also, probably fair to remember that most people watching that show are likely not serious rockcrawlers etc.

Easy there cheif, the subject of the FJ Cruiser being a "real" Landcruiser was never brought up. We're all part of the same Toyota family so ease up on the cuts. If you've got a problem with the FJC then stick to your own forum.

If you don't like the new FJ, go back and stay in your 80 series forum -and turn in your TLCA card if you happen to be a member as the TLCA is about more than just one or two types of cruisers.

who said anything about not liking the FJC...? I like 'em a lot, myself. :)

surely you guys are not that sensitive about that issue, that a lil' friendly ribbing between cruiserheads would be frowned upon, right...? :)

The issue with the E-locker was as follows. The original Cruiser I ordered for this show was not equipped with an E-Locker, but when the shoot date was closing in, we had to take what was available that was an e-locker equipped. I already had the ARB units and was going to send the rear back but then I found out the rear housing needed to be swapped for the E-locker. I choose to stick with the install. I prefer the ARB to the E-Locker, you don't have to buy a "skid" for the actuator everything is inside the diff and protected, and since I was putting an ARB in the front I was aleady installing the compressor and lines.

The behind the scenes work is like this. 10 "working" days to complete one show. This includes 5 days with a camera crew and 5 without. All the work is done in house unless the equipment is not available.

This is how you make the diff work look so easy. :D
By the way...I like the little "tricks" you guys show. Like the connecting rod hanger to paint the block, and the "handle" Jessi used to weld in the plug. I wish I could weld as well as her. :frown:

On the part about the producers only allowing a 30 minute show, bummer.
I know many would love a 60 minute show, and they would recoup the extra time I am sure by sponsors.

30 minutes just goes by to fast.

By the way, I love the show.
I also like the antics like when Jessi drops something, or other cut ups.
It makes the show a lot of fun to watch.

I am not a Jeep guy, but I sure enjoyed the 4 door buildup episode last Sunday.

If you liked the start of that episode what until you see it finished. Lockers, Atlas, suspension seats and then it will get thrashed on the trails.......

i have to say that Wrangler looked good after the first part already, Jeep or not....

I have to agree that Jeep looked pretty sweet with those massive tires and those half doors. If anyone missed last weeks episode they can catch it today as a repeat!
